It was one of those bizarre features of Star Wars universes that even in an asteroid belt in the reaches of space, life thrived.
Some of which, like mynocks, were small and mainly considered vermin. Some of which were large and usually hid inside asteroids.
You might wonder what a large enough snake to swallow the Millenium Falcon whole would have to hide from.
Inside that Star Wars universe, you didn't wonder about such things. You would have heard the legends and dismissed them as such most likely. You would have heard of living space sargassos that pulled entire ships into their amorphous depths. You would have heard old grizzled asteroid miners who talked of living rogue moons that chewed up small asteroids and ships unlucky enough to cross their path. You would have seen old scarred spacers telling of these and one thing more.
Dragons.
This was a universe of epic adventure, after all. Dragons therefore fit right in.
As most of his sentai team scattered, having identified the huge clawmarks as something best left alone, Major Kuross discovered he'd woken something up.
The dust of an age sloughed off as the asteroid broke apart and that which was within unfolded. And kept unfolding.
Even Major Kuross, as deluded as he could normally be, felt some small animal part of his brain tuck its tail between its legs and go yipping off to the horizon.
Big.
In size about that of an Imperial Star Destroyer. The damage done was minimal but it had obviously been annoyed.
