Slayers RESET: Escape to Hell [Episode 23749]

by Thrythlind

It was harder than she thought to go unseen through the world. She was the best caster of divinations among her people, and thus the best caster against divinations as well. In addition, she had cloaked herself in a disguise beyond her simple human transformation.

It was still difficult getting through unnoticed. People tended to notice odd travelers such as her, it seemed, and her poor control over her temper and shape had resulted in many close calls. Eventually, some rumor was going to reach back to her people, and they would be on her trail.

She had several advantages however.

Chief among these was that there was no way that the other gold dragons could know just why she had left. She had taken the gem that had shown her their treachery with her.

And thus they had no idea that she would make for the barrier.

There was a mazoku she needed to speak to, much as she hated to admit it, and a sorceress. For they could confirm or deny the information in the gem.

If they deemed it fit to give her answers at least. If the mazoku in question didn't just kill her out right.

Still, it did make sense in a horrid fashion. Suddenly the Beastmasters destruction of so many golds in the ages past was clear. And just why the Knight of Ceipheed had lifted not a finger to stop the destruction of her, or Ceipheed's rather, greatest followers.

They had ceased to be her followers when they betrayed the other dragons. They had cast aside the power and protection of the dragon god. And, when they threw themselves against the mazoku, drunk with this success, they were annihilated.

She made the barrier after many days of frantic chasing, and that is where she felt herself stymied.

She was a creature of light, there was no way that she could pass through the mazoku barrier. A human, filled with both light and dark, could possibly do it, if they were supremely powerful, but her. She couldn't even touch the dark magic that had gone into its creation.

She couldn't even kill herself trying. The most she could do was stare at it and puzzle and wait for the other golds to come find her.

"Damn it," she gasped. "I can't stop here! I need to know!" She summoned up a charge of white power, summoning all she could and flashing it into the barrier, but it merely rippled along, doing no conceivable harm to the barrier, merely splashing off of it.

"Ceipheed!" she called out slamming the barrier with her human-formed fists. "Please aid me!"

She wept openly and then flinched as she felt a feather light touch. A scrying sensor, passing over her, missing her. She released a held breath...and then another sensor passed and another, and she was quickly revitalizing all her concentration on the impenetrable barrier.

Any moment now, one of those sensors would pierce her sheilding. She was good, she was very, very good, but she was only so good.

"Ceipheed, let me past!" she wailed. And then it occured to her, that she was calling on the wrong power. Ceipheed had nothing to do with this barrier. And the one that did would not like her within.

Despite the gaining magical pursuit, Filia felt naturally hesitant as she considered what she was about to do. And then one of the sensors found her and she felt the space around her warping for several dragon teleports.

"Mother of all!" she called out, in an action of what her people considered blasphemy. "Let me through your servant's wall!"

A golden rip appeared in the barrier before, a passage through and to the Sea of Chaos. Filia didn't even consider the changes that might be wrought upon her by that unpredictable mass of energy. She had no time to consider, she merely leaped into the rip, and watched in relief as it closed behind her.

She glanced back and then was received by a familiar looking golden-skinned girl.

"Welcome daughter," the girl said in a serene, echoing voice. "You are needed beyond, and worrying not about them finding you. Never shall anyone find a gold dragon named Filia again."

"What...what do you..." Filia's question was aborted as she was suddenly rushed across the space of infinite gold and thrown into it. She screamed silently into the murk until she felt herself pulled through a hole and the sea of chaos vanished behind her.

She tumbled wearily out onto the ground and almost lost control over her form. She shook her head out as she arose and was shocked to find her long gold locks had turned blue, despite the fact that she could feel that her illusion had fallen.

Looking carefully she noted a pale blue tinge to her skin as well. Crawling swiftly to a nearby stream she noted blue eyes.

Her reflection shifted suddenly to the form of that golden-skinned girl, smiling up at her.

"Your former people shall seek a gold dragon named Filia Ul'Copt and none such will exist," the girl said. Was she the Lord of Nightmares? "They will not think to look for a sapphire dragon of the same given name, Filia D'Une, as there has been no such thing. Not until now, at any rate. This will help your return and the success of your quest. Go seek, my face, and find with her the answers you seek."

And with that the figure faded away into mere water showing Filia's new face.
