"Right," said the cat. "Now the limiters are to keep him from going too overboard too quickly."
"How so?" asked the Hokage, flipping through the manga. Wait a minute. "Naruto is going to turn into a girl with cold water?"
"And reverse with hot, yes," said the cat. "I'm pulling the version of Ranma from this volume."
THUMP! went a thick tankubon onto the desk.
"The art style looks a bit different," said the Hokage. "Characters are quite a bit older here too. And who are these others?"
"Officially, the series ended with volume 38 in most realities," said the cat. "In this case, she did a crossover story after finishing another two series, revisiting the Ranma cast. Among others."
"I see, so what series are these others from?" asked the Hokage as he looked over some of the pages.
"Oh, there's Inu-Yasha, Maris the Choujo, Maison Ikkoku, Mermaid Saga, One Pound Gospel, Rin-ne, and Urusei Yatsura."
"So which of these are you using with Naruto?" asked the Hokage, flipping through the story.
"Yes," said the cat.
"Excuse me?" asked the Hokage.
"He's starting off with Ranma Saotome's martial arts, you'd call them taijutsu skills," said the cat with a snicker. "But check out page 117."
The Hokage flipped ahead to that page and stared.
"THAT," said the cat, "is why I'm including the limiters. Until he's got more control, unleashing anything like that might be funny for a moment but then goes into tragic. Tell you what though. I'm going to give you a seal breaker."
"A seal breaker?" asked the Hokage, who then nodded. "I see. When Naruto is sufficiently pressed, his sensei or myself could then temporarily unlock higher ability."
The cat grinned and nodded at him.
Pop!
Hiruzen Sarutobi lifted the odd cube up. "Something small, easily misplaced or lost?"
"It's in genre," commented the cat. "Though you forgot 'stolen' - which is something to consider if you decide to tell people about it."
"No doubt," said the Hokage, hefting the fist-sized cube.
