Both giggled, and then they shared a kiss…which then got interrupted by a knock at the closed bathroom door. "Miss Lum?! Are you in there?!"
Lum broke away from Benten and glanced at the door. "Yes?!"
"Your father wants you on the bridge, ma'am!" the young crewwoman on the other side of the door reported. "They've decided who you're going to play tag with!"
"I'll be there in a few minutes!"
"Yes, ma'am!"
Lum blinked, and then she sighed. "We'll finish this later," she said as she saucily winked at Benten before getting back at her feet.
"Fuckin' outside galaxy should mind its own fuckin' business," the Fukunokami muttered under her breath as the Oni headed off to dry up and get dressed…
Minutes later…
"So who's the unlucky victim, Dad?"
Invader winced on hearing that question, and then he gave his daughter a scathing look in return. "Stop treating this so casually, Lum!" he scolded her before turning back to his first officer, who was standing beside the slot machine-like device that was going to be used to decide who the Earth tag champion was going to be. "Do it!"
The scarred, one-eyed officer nodded as he pulled down the lever on the side of the machine. The whole bridge crew was quiet as the tumblers in front of the machine whirled quickly for a moment. The first tumbler then stopped at the Urusian character for the number "7," which made many of the people watching this grin. The second tumbler then did the same thing, making all the grins widen significantly; the machine had been programmed to show such a lucky sign if the proposed Earth tag champion was to be a very good person. Finally, after a minute, the third tumbler slowed down…
"Oni-head," the sensor officer warned.
Invader scowled as the tumbler stopped…
…on the "7" symbol!
Silence fell for a moment, and then the whole bridge crew exploded in cheers and whoops as people hugged each other and slapped each other's backs. "So who's the lucky schmuck?!" Benten then asked as she stepped off the lift onto the bridge deck.
Invader scowled. "Benten!"
The Fukunokami stuck out her tongue at the giant Oni, which made him scowl even further, though both Benten and Lum could sense he was just playing the angry Oni; he was drinking buddies with Benten's adopted father Shigaten Hotei, so he looked on the biker as an unofficial niece. By then, the first officer had pulled out the readout PADD with the results. "The choice for champion of the United Nations of Earth has been made!" he then called out, which silenced the whole bridge crew.
"Give it to us, Number One!" Invader ordered.
"Sir! The choice is…
