The next morning at Training Ground Ten, the three Genin were waiting for Kakashi to show up. About two minutes after seven, he did and was still breathing heavily.
"Normally, I would be giving you a test to see if you had teamwork. However, that Bingo Book has changed things," Kakashi said without preamble.
"It's true that ever since Mizuki was assigned the academy, that the only way non-clan ninja will go on missions is if they have a clan ninja on their team?" Sakura asked while opening her eyes wide as if in shock.
"I'm not sure about that," Kakashi stated. "If true, there is going to be a major shake up at the academy."
"What is a Bingo Book anyway?" Naruto asked.
"A Bingo Book is a book that has details and observations about a village and its most notable ninja alongside notable missing-nin. The Bingo Book that Sakura found was the observations that someone else had of Konoha. It might be blatantly inaccurate at points, but it is their views of various situations and people," Kakashi replied.
"So what do we do now?" Naruto asked.
"You tell me your likes, dislikes, and dreams," Kakashi said. "I'll start off. My name is Kakashi Hatake. I really don't have any likes and dreams are for sleeping. I do heavily hate what that Bingo Book said of me though. You first Pinky."
"My name is Sakura Haruno. I dislike being teased about my forehead. My hobby is studying various things like history and science and practicing heavily to take advantage of what that teasing when I was younger did for me."
"Your next orange boy," Kakashi said.
"My name is Naruto Uzumaki. I like ramen and dislike the ten minutes it takes for ramen to be cooked. I have a dream to be Hokage one day."
Sakura shook her head and laughed.
"If you want it, you can have it," Sakura said. "Ordering people to their deaths is not something I want to do."
"What did you mean by that?" Naruto asked in bewilderment.
"I'll explain in a bit. Now for the last one," Kakashi said, while holding up a finger.
"I really don't have any likes or dislikes. I do have a person I want to kill though," Sasuke said.
"Now Naruto, what Sakura meant about not wanting to be Hokage is that the Hokage has to order ninja to gather information and that could lead to those ninja's death. He also has to pass judgment on people and maybe execute those people. Mizuki comes to mind here," Kakashi said.
Naruto got an ill look on his face at that explanation.
"Oh."
"Now normally I would show up two or three hours late, but I would always have you meet at this training ground. You are supposed to practice until I do show up," Kakashi said. "That is seeing underneath the underneath. However, due to Mizuki's betrayal, I have to start with the basics."
Sakura hid a smile and thought to herself, "At least this is going to repair the damage of that stupid clan first mentality. So that was what Kakashi was really trying to do."
"Sakura. You mentioned taking advantage of what that teasing did to you. What did you mean?" Kakashi asked.
"I hid my emotions so well that I developed a slight split personality. What I say and what I feel can be two different things. I'm doing my best to take advantage of that slight split personality," Sakura said.
"Doesn't seem that strong, but it gives you a slight advantage," Kakashi observed. "I can't see any major benefits though."
Sakura smiled and thought, "I can freely mix any two elemental chakra, so Wood Release is available to me. My chakra pathways have two separate currents running opposite to each other, making me immune to pressure point tactics like the Gentle fist. That opposing flow means I blend into the background far easier, thus chakra sensing is weakened heavily. I'm also immune to various Genjutsu and mind control techniques since I have two minds sort of. I will have to get Lava Release, Ice Release, Sand Release and the other dual type techniques trained up though. I had to retrain my body for everything that I used to have. It's not a bloodline technique, but a pure mental trick making it impossible to copy."
Kakashi saw Sakura smile and shook his head and looked at Naruto and Sasuke.
"Saskue, your clan has the Sharingan. However, it takes something intense to awaken it. Naruto, you know what you have and what it gives you. We'll start with Taijutsu."
Kakashi walked to the center of the training ground and pointed at Naruto.
"You first. Attack me with no chakra techniques. I need to see where you are at."
Naruto did so and Kakashi blocked all of the attacks and then knocked him down. Kakashi waved Naruto out of the ring as Kakashi shook his head and pointed at Saskue. Sasuke faired no better than Naruto.
"You're up Sakura."
Sakura nodded as she thought, "It'll be two more years before I can beat him, because he has a huge size advantage over me. But I can give him a good run for his money."
Unlike the two boys Sakura was able to get several blows on Kakashi and was able to dodge most of his attacks.
"Enough!" Kakashi called out. "How did you learn how to do that?"
"I practiced away from the academy to prevent anyone from messing up my training. Naruto seems to have stealth down. The painting of the Hokage monument comes to mind," Sakura said.
Kakashi sat down on the ground and put his fist on his chin. "Right. I'll have to work on his personality and get him to quiet down. I'm not sure what I can do with Sakura, but she is more advanced than the academy records as well. Sasuke is the only one who is pretty much a blank slate."
"Sensei?" Sakura asked.
"Sorry. I was just thinking out loud. I was originally going to have this team as a heavy strike team, but you reminded me of Naruto's main skill: setting up pranks without getting caught and evading capture," Kakashi said. "We'll start taking missions tomorrow. I need to think up some training regimes for all of you. Be back here tomorrow at seven. Dismissed."
The Genin left, leaving Kakashi to his thoughts.
"Naruto has Kage Bunshin along with that stealth ability of his with his obnoxious personality. He also has insane stamina and a huge chakra. Weaknesses would be his inability to learn small chakra techniques like the basic Bunshin technique or even Genjutsu. Stealth and close range assault would be good for him"
"Sakura has that slight split personality. It will probably just make her more resistant to Genjutusu and mind control techniques and give her better chakra control. She has better Taijutsu than Naruto or Sasuke. Probably a good healer candidate, so she'll need training in senbon and shuriken for distance attacks."
"Sasuke was given a bit of advanced training by the various teachers, so he should have more Ninjutsu techniques than Naruto or Sakura. I'm not sure where I should concentrate his training. Maybe after some D rank missions I'll have a better idea. Both boys need Taijutsu training though."
