There was a knock on the door as Kasumi was holding hands with Ranma, the older girl still communing with Ren.
“Kasumi, can we talk?”
Sighing not only at Akane interrupting her moment, Kasumi had to consider the suddenly very tense Ranma. Knowing that look, Ranma seemed ready to either latch onto the ceiling or hide under the bed. That just wouldn’t do. “Just have a seat, I’m sure Akane-chan will behave.”
Letting go of Ranma, Kasumi went to open the door and see what her little sister wanted. “Yes Akane-chan?”
Standing at the door, Akane paused with her mouth open before closing it. She’d come to her sister to discuss the engagement, but she realised Kasumi was still in her maid dress. The strange girl was also in a maid outfit and clinging to Ranma, Akane somewhat surprised he was still in Kasumi’s room. “Wha... why is Ranma in your room?”
Kasumi glanced back at Ranma herself, flashing him a smile, before turning to Akane. “Oh, Master Ranma?” Putting her hands to her face, Kasumi blushed. “Oh my, calling him Master when we haven’t decided one how to address him. Ranma-sama? Ranma-dono? Gushujin-sama?” Turning around, Kasumi considered Ranma again. “Whatever shall I call you Ranma-kun?”
More than a little uncomfortable with Ren attached to his side from fear of Akane, Ranma was starting to feel a bit lost with the situation. “Uhm, Ranma-kun is fine.”
Tilting her head to the side, Kasumi seemed to consider the issue. “That doesn’t seem proper, but I suppose we’ll discuss it later. So why is Ranma-kun in my room?”
Pausing to consider the question, Kasumi realized she didn’t have a plan. “Well, we did come up here to get Ren-chan clothes, but that problem has been taken care of. Well, I suppose I need to consider where Ranma-kun will be sleeping. Certainly not proper that he would sleep on a futon while I sleep in a bed. I suppose I should move him into my room now.”
Still figuring out the maid thing, Akane got really concerned for Kasumi when she mentioned that. “Move Ranma into your room? Isn’t it improper to have a boy in your room?”
Thinking about it she did recall scolding Ranma for sneaking into Akane’s room one night. “Oh, Ranma-kun explained to me why he was guarding your room at night. I really don’t think it’s proper you’ve been inviting Ryoga-kun to your room at night Akane-chan, certainly not while engaged to Ranma-kun.”
Hearing it so bluntly form her big sister, Akane had trouble believing what she was hearing. “What? You make it sound like I’ve been sneaking Ryoga into my room.”
Frowning thoughtfully, Kasumi rested her chin on her hand while tilting her head to the side. “Well, I didn’t mean to sound judgemental about your choices, but I don’t really approve of the way you’re always hugging that boy to you and then teasing Ranma about it when he objects to his fiancée behaving so shamelessly.”
Staring as it almost sounded like Kasumi was accusing her of being a pervert, Akane figured out the true problem. “Whatever Ranma’s been telling you is a lie, I haven’t been doing anything indecent with Ryoga.”
Face darken from sunny to mildy cloudy with a cross breeze, Kasumi leveled a small frown at her little sister. “You’re accusing Ranma-kun of lying now? I’ve seen you with your little... indiscretion not only in the family room where the whole family has seen you, but at the breakfast table of all places. Have you no shame?”
Heart skipping a beat, Akane realized she was being accused of being a pervert, Kasumi just sounded like she’d been politely ignoring it until then. Worse she didn’t have a clue what exactly she was referring to with Ryoga. Sure she’d spent some time with the nice boy, but she’d only ever talked to him, never touching him in any sort of inappropriate way. Obviously there was some sort of confusion on her sister’s part.
Realizing it was some sort of misunderstanding, Akane paused and realized Nabiki was already listening in from her own now open doorway, saving Akane the trouble of getting her. “Tell her Nabiki, I haven’t been doing anything indecent with Ryoga.”
Smirk growing, Nabiki looked at her sisters. Kasumi very obviously knew about P-chan, the older girl always seemed a bit uncomfortable handling the transformed boy. Sure it had been amusing seeing Ranma try to deal with P-chan without outright saying it was Ryoga, but that time had long since passed. Nabiki herself wasn’t sure if Akane knew her P-chan was Ryoga or just ignored the fact, but it seemed worth a little amusement to tease her. “Oh no sis, I’ve always admired the way you’ll just bring Ryoga to the table and brazenly bury him in your cleavage until he passes out with a nosebleed. It is a little cruel to tease Ranma like that, but that’s what he gets for not satisfying you in bed.”
Now staring at Nabiki, Akane was pretty sure she’d never snuggled Ryoga into her cleavage, although something about that was faintly ringing a bell. “What?”
Amused with herself, Nabiki pondered how to get a little more mileage with her teasing. “There’s nothing to be ashamed of sis, if Ranma had been banging you properly you wouldn’t be cavorting with other boys, right? What’s the point of having a studly boy living under the same roof if not to get a little action at night, girls have got needs too you know.”
With Akane floundering as Nabiki went to outright describing her as a pervert, Kasumi mused softly on the issue. “Oh, is that why Akane-chan was so cross, Ranma-kun was acting like a gentleman instead of properly taking advantage of her at night. It’s a little improper, but I suppose it’s to be expected.”
Back in Kasumi’s room and out of sight of Nabiki, Ranma spoke up. “She wanted me to sneak into her room and do that? And she calls me a pervert?”
Kasumi mused thoughtfully on the issue. “Perhaps she was just venting? It does seem a little unfair though.”
Blushing at all the implication, Akane had been lost so far, but she did think a lot about Ranma coming into her room at night and doing that sort of thing, so the accusation made her too embarrassed to deny it. Feeling awkward with everyone looking at her, Akane fled back to the safety of her room.
With Akane gone, Nabiki came over to settle a bit of her own curiosity. “So what’s with the maid outfit sis?”
Confusion replaced with a sunny smile, Kasumi put her worries about Akane aside. “Oh, I’m Master Ranma’s maid, does my dress look nice?”
Nodding Nabiki had to admit it did look nice, although she thought it seemed a bit nicer than the last time she saw it. “Yeah, looking good. So you having fun playing with Ranma?”
Enjoying herself so far, Kasumi nodded happily. The times when Ranma kept her company and told her about his day were her favorite times and now she’d actually get to play with him some. “Oh yes, would you like to play too?”
Raising an eyebrow, Nabiki decided to play along to see what was up. “Sure, might be fun.”
Following Kasumi into her bedroom, Nabiki got a good look at the new girl and her own little maid outfit. “So who’s this?”
Looking at the slender girl holding tight to Ranma, Kasumi was glad someone in the house wasn’t scaring the poor girl. “This is Ren, Ranma rescued her today and she promised to be his servant.”
Barely raising an eyebrow Nabiki was surprised it took this long, she’d actually been a bit miffed that Ranma didn’t end up with Konatsu as a pet ninja. Having a family ninja that was way better than Sasuke would have been sweet. Between the idiot fathers and her dear violent little sister they couldn’t have a kunoichi serving Ranma, even if said kunoichi was really a boy.
Knowing Ranma the new girl could probably do something other than look cute and vulnerable while clinging to his side. For the moment however she just decided to stand by and watch.
Kasumi however was glad to have someone to consult. “I still haven’t figured out how to do the sleeping arrangements. Certainly I can’t have the young master sleeping on the floor, that’s just not proper. Sharing such a small room with the three of us is a bit much. It would be much more proper if we had a master bedroom for Ranma-kun.”
