It's just too bad she's never really had time for her own little girl.
Dr. Mizuno closes the door behind her and then locks it. The lights are still off, leaving the downstairs in almost complete darkness. She then hears a voice.
"Mom..." Begins the voice, quietly. It then continues in a tone that is a mixture of fear and anger; almost confusion. "We need to talk."
Dr. Mizuno blinked. She recognized the voice. She wanted to help her child, but she was really feeling too tired at the moment. "Can this wait until tomorrow morning, honey? Mother had a long day at the office again and I would like to get to-"
The words on Dr. Mizuno's tongue died as Ami turned on the over-head lamp that was built into the wall above the couch. Dr. Mizuno dropped the folders and papers she held in her left arm. She stares at her daughter in shock. Her daughter who is covered with gray fur, has big round ears, a slight muzzle with buck-teeth, and a hairless tail.
Ami saw her mother's shock and wondered if it was because her mother never knew, or because she was surprised to see this possibly again. "Care to explain this, mother?"
Dr. Mizuno's jaw flapped up and down, trying to speak. Still, no sound followed for quite some time. This started to get on Ami's nerves. "Please mother, do you know anything about this?"
After a moment of shock, Dr. Mizuno sighed. "My dear, dear Ami... My sweet child... I think it's time we had a long over-due talk about your father..."
Ami cringed. "This is why you two seperated, isn't it?" Ami then blinked as she saw her mother nodd her head and start walking into the kitchen. "Hey mom, where are you going?"
"To make us some coffee... This is going to take awhile..." Dr. Mizuno said.
Ami nodded her head. She wanted to hear all of this.

By now it was four in the morning. Ami was mentally reeling from what she found out. First, her mother met her father during college. They got along well enough. Then she founf out five years into the marriage that her father was a wererat, a year after she was born. However, her mother accepted it, and they lived togather as a family for another five years... The reason her parents got seperated was mostly because her father's 'master' came looking for him and he didn't want them finding his family.
"So mom," Ami began, "Are you going to try to call dad? Ask him for advice?"
Dr. Michi Mizuno shook her head. "I'm not sure. I think your father deserves to know you've gained access to your heritage. I honestly think he might have advice for you..."
Ami nodded her head. She knew her fatehr wasn't a bad man, it's just that his clan was filled with a bunch of bastards. That did not mean her father was one.
Ami couldn't help but smile. She hadn't seen her father in years. She wondered what he would be like personally.
