After a bit of chatting it was time to head in, with Akane happy for once that she could talk and relax before school and still make it to class on time.
As for Ranma, two of the girls had split off to go somewhere else with a nods being all they shared about why. That left the quiet Aoi and strutting Naruko flanking Ranma, the blonde staying at his side while the other girl politely followed behind him.
Once in the classroom their intentions became quite obvious as they simply pulled up chairs beside Ranma and joined him at his desk. Considering the minor trouble of adding desks or chairs from the room, it was a convenient way to seat them, but they obviously gave no thought to any of the other options.
As class began Akane halfway expected the teacher to say something, but the somewhat shaken looking man in glasses instead took another look at his morning notes after calling roll. “Ah, well, there’s the matter of our two observers. It seems we have two representatives of Mahora High in class today. Please be courteous to them and try not to cause any trouble.”
And just like that, class continued without so much as introducing the girls.
Frowning thoughtfully, Akane knew something was up. While school life was pretty standard, there certainly were exceptions. Transfers could wear plain clothes or old uniforms to school for a while. Some students stayed home the whole semester for various reasons and someone had to deliver their course work. Family members or prospective students might sit in and observe a class and sometimes school representatives would visit another school for special business between student councils. All things that could happen, but so rarely that it would be surprising when it did.
There were two girls from another high school, with a focus on Ranma, attending class as observers? Seeing how they acted together, the other two were likely from the same school, but for what reason?
Akane could only think of one reason, however odd, and that was the thing about Ranma being a star trainer. It certainly wasn’t unknown for schools to compete for outstanding students, a high school known for baseball giving a good ball player a scholarship for instance, perhaps even going further than covering tuition to cover housing expenses for the transfer. Were they there to poach Ranma for their school? That school would certainly have to have a lot of influence to get them sitting in on class like that.
Perhaps she’d find out later, but for the moment all she could do was give them a few glances. The blonde, after some scolding by Aoi, had settled into reading a book, apparently doing her own schoolwork. The blue-haired Aoi in turn was using her side of Ranma’s desk to help Ranma keep up with his current class by following along in his book.
Nothing else really happened with them, the trio staying relatively quiet. It was a bit embarrassing for Akane however as all her schoolmates just seemed interested in gossipping about them, with the teacher largely ignoring the mess.
She was getting a bit tired of telling classmates to mind their own business or that she didn’t know.
