Ranma seached for a way out, but in the middle of a crowd that was hard to do.
"That's your relatives?" Lina asked.
"I don't want to talk about it," Amelia muttered.
"Mako-chan! Mina-chan! Rei-chan!" Usagi exclaimed.
"Aren't you glad that the great Shiho is here, Hiroyuki?"
He shrugged. "Not really."
"What?!"
"Yuri! Hinagiku! You're here!"
"This is just great. All these people are here with us," growled Lina, "So I have just one question..."
"What?" asked Gourry.
"JUST WHY IN SHABRINIGDO'S NAME ARE WE HERE?!"
One could almost hear the crickets chirp in the resulting silence.
"Heh," said the one time avatar for the Lord of Nightmares, turning a bright red.
"If you want, I could answer that question," said a disembodied voice.
"It can't be..."
"Why hello again Lina," said a purple haired man as he appeared in mid air and landed to sit on the yard wall.
"XELLOS?! You're behind this?!"
"You might say that..."
"Why I oughta..."
"Temper, temper. If you attack me now, you'll never know why I saved you."
That stopped Lina short. "You save Me..?"
"Oh yes. If I hadn't terrible things would have happened."
"Like what?" asked Ukyo.
"Like most of the people here never being born. Or the possiblity that this world could be turned into a dark wasteland."
"What?! How could that happen?!" Usagi asked.
"It's really quite simple. With Phibrizzo, Gaav and other Mazoku no longer... viable, including parts of the Dark Lord, it left a power vaccum that allowed for another one to rise in power."
"And that means..," began Amelia.
"That there is someone who is a rather powerful Mazoku who is looking to destroy you."
"But why?"
"In the past he was too weak to face Lina head on. And if he attacked while she was with her friends, it would have been a quick form of suicide. In this time? He's too powerful to face alone, but your decendants pose too much of a danger. And since he was going to kill you using his power fom this time, I sort of had to... arrange for you to come here."
"Then why didn't you deal with him in your time?"
"Ah, there lies the trick. I'm from this time. I didn't know what I do now."
"So what does all that mean?!" demanded Lina.
