Kurenai looked over at her team and smirked a little bit. It had been a while since Konoha had had two kunoichi on the same team. Still, she had some difficulties ahead.
"First things first," Kurenai said. "Some things about this team are considered S-class secrets. That would include the details of Ino's bloodline and the fact that Naruto and Hinata have been outside this world as well as the nature of their...weapons. Is that understood?"
"Yes, Kurenai-sensai," Hinata said, nodding. "The TSAB treats the Jutsu-system the same way."
"The Jutsu-system?" Ino asked.
"It is how they refer to our chakra use," Kurenai said. "And that is enough for now. As to introductions."
She smiled at them.
"I am Kurenai Yuhi, recently made jonin," she said. "I am a genjutsu and reconnaissance expert. I like karaoke and gardening and I don't particularly like the smell of cigarette ash or people who think kunoichi are weaker than men. My goal is to see the three of you accomplish your goals."
She turned to look at Naruto, the most outgoing of the three given the way Ino was looking like she was emulating Hinata at the moment.
"I'm Naruto Uzumaki," the blonde said with a smile. "I like ramen and hanging out with my friends. I don't like jerks who expect me to fail or who hurt my friends. And I plan to be Hokage some day."
He looked over toward Hinata with an encouraging smile that was echoed by Kurenai, who was happy to see that two years of life had at least made the girl less skittish socially...though that wasn't saying much. Ino was looking over at the girl with a take your time expression.
"Ummm, well, I'm Hinata Hyuga," she said quietly. "I like uh...my friends and my uh...partner, um Naruto-kun...and I like studying medicine, herbology and chemistry, and I don't like skinship gropes."
She was decidedly firm on that especially as she carefully eyed both Ino and Kurenai who responded with confused looks.
"'Skinship gropes'?" Ino replied, arching an eyebrow as one of her "braids" rose up questioningly.
"Uhh...my ambition is to...uhh," her eyes flicked toward Naruto and she thought of a safe way to say what she wanted to say "be a...uh...good partner for...uh Naruto-kun."
"At least that sentiment is easy to understand," Ino thought to herself.
"Hinata likes Naruto?" Kurenai wondered briefly with a smile. "Well, they did spend two years stranded in another civilization."
Both of the two girls glanced over at Naruto and confirmed that he hadn't picked up on it really at all.
"Oh please don't tell me he's doing the 'just friends' thing without even knowing it," Ino thought to herself.
"Ino, it's your turn," Kurenai said and the girl sat up quickly, her tendrils shifting about around her head in surprise.
"Ummm, right...I'm Ino Yamanaka," she said. "I like Sasuke Uchiha , also flowers and gardening too..."
Naruto tallied that up in his head. Kurenai liked gardening, Hinata liked gardening due to the medical uses and Ino liked gardening. He was beginning to see some "interesting" conversations in his near future.
"...I don't like...this," and here Ino gestured at herself, "and I want to marry Sasuke...but with this..."
Kurenai thought that the whole thing with Sasuke obsessing about being a vengeance seeking loner was the biggest block to that goal. That and Hinata's goals were...touchy. Ino's more so due to the subject of the goal and her current dissatisfaction with herself. Kurenai decided that she'd call that "successful in love" and help towards that.
"Now," Kurenai said. "On to the next part, which would usually be a test to see if we go past this point. However, it is fairly well confirmed that Hinata and Naruto both work well together as a team and have the necessary skills..."
Chunin level skills, actually, given what she'd seen of the documents and recorded videos. High chunin even.
"...as such, I have other tasks for you to take care of," Kurenai continued as she took. "I have some errands that need attending to if the three of you can look into them? We'll make this the test, so we have something official to show for paperwork purposes."
She kept the smile off her face as she started handing each of them a different envelope with a different task.
Naruto would attempt to get it all done with clones, probably, and spare the girls from having to take care of it at all. However, at least one of the errands was not something that could be completed simply by a sheer number of clones. Nor did the file of "spell" capabilities Hinata and Naruto had show anything that would be particularly useful for their circumstances either.
They were going to have to be creative.
From what she could tell of the unit that Hinata and Naruto had been part of, they predominantly had dealt with accidents, disasters and combat. Sometimes something subtler was called for.
"Determine appropriate gifts for the dignitaries visiting this month?" Naruto read as he looked up toward Kurenai. "What dignitaries?"
Their teacher smiled and then vanished into smoke.
"Kurenai is running a security test by giving her genin a 'simple task'," Ibiki reported to the Hokage. "Assuming they can acquire the list of names and research them in a day, will, we'd obviously need to step up security."
"It should be interesting to see the results," the Hokage said with a nod.
"At least two of them have inside information on some of the planned visitors," Ibiki noted. "Though they still have to know they're coming to use it."
