Sakura frowned and looked over her shoulder. She wasn't sure but she thought she'd seen one of the local business men frowning at her. Looking away, she turned to look toward Shino and Sasuke again.
"Are either of you getting a funny feeling that people are mad at you about something?" she asked.
Sasuke glanced over toward her and gave a "tch" sound while she wasn't even sure if Shino had looked at her at all or even noticed she'd said something.
"I'm serious, I walked by one of the food carts and I swear they glared at me before putting out a 'no credit' sign," Sakura insisted.
"It's probably nothing," Sasuke noted.
Though he had noticed an unusual character to the looks leveled his way as well.
"You should focus on the test Kakashi-sensei is arranging for us," Shino said.
Kakashi looked down at the apple in his hand and the money in the other hand.
"That was at least double the normal price," he noted idly to himself.
He thought back over the facts from the aftermath of Kurenai's security test. Naruto had only built up a tab, specifically only under Raido's name, at Ichiraku's, a place he was familiar and friendly with. He'd paid the tab after the exercise was done, though he'd complained about why his clones thought they had to eat. Practically none of the ninja on staff had been fooled by Hinata and Ino's attempt to impersonate Sakura and Sasuke. In fact, from what he could tell, every single trained member of the Yamanaka clan seemed to know the entirety of what was going on.
So...why was he getting dirty looks and over-priced fruit?
Last night...
"I'm not sure we should be talking about this here," Izumo said to Kotetsu with a slurred voice.
"Oh, it's all right," Kotetsu said. "We're just talking about a graduation test, right...what was your name again?"
"Genma," the strange and yet familiar fat man said with a smile. "Now what's this about my nephew Sasuke bilking people again?"
"Oh right, the lunch tab!" Kotetsu laughed loudly. "What a way to stick it to that stick up his rear, Raido!"
"I just know we're going to have troubles from this," Izumo said nervously.
Somebody was going to pay for this, Kakashi decided.
He sighed and shook his head.
Better go catch up to the team and get his own test started.
Chouji and Shikamaru looked over toward Kiba doubtfully as he sat with their team.
"Isn't this great?" Kiba asked. "Just three guys able to do just about anything they want without some girl interrupting them."
Shikamaru frowned a bit and looked over toward Chouji who returned the look. Both of them had been expecting Ino to be a part of their team based on the fact that their three fathers had worked together a while back. Kiba was not an entirely unknown quantity and, to tell the truth, he probably wasn't much worse of a big mouth than Ino would have been, but he was still just the slightest bit...annoying...
"So did you hear the rumor about Team 7?" Kiba asked. "Sounds like they ran up a big bill somewhere after henge-ing into the Hokage's bodyguard! Can you imagine something so stupid?"
"Not really, no," Shikamaru said.
"When is Asuma-sensei getting here?" Chouji asked, taking out a bag of chips and opening it.
"Hey, watch your eating there Chouji," Kiba said. "You're going to get..."
Shikamaru's eyes widened as Kiba continued talking.
"...fatter."
"What did you say?" Chouji asked.
"He said you're going to run out of food if you eat too fast," Shikamaru said quickly.
"No, I didn't," Kiba noted. "I said..."
"Well, glad to see you three on-time," Asuma said. "So, let's get started."
Kotetsu sat up from his bed, stood and shuffled over to the counter to get something for his hangover.
"Why do I get the feeling that I've somehow brought doom down on my own head?" he muttered idly.
