"Look what they're doing," said Toltiir.
"That's..." Naruto abruptly realized what they were doing with the five-year-old Hinata.
"Yes, history plays out much as it originally did," said Toltiir. "Hiashi and Hizashi Hyuga. Twins. Really, it isn't much of a change for one to be born before the other. The consequences tally up though."
"They're putting the Hyuga cursed seal on her forehead," realized Naruto as the image showed the girl being restrained as she screamed in pain.
"Yes," said Toltiir. "She's of the Branch Family now. When Hanabi is born she will undergo the same thing."
"It hurts?" asked Naruto, though it was obvious from Hinata's reaction that it DID.
"Relatively. That's why they have to bandage it for a few months afterward," said Toltiir. "Oh. There's some significant differences in Neji. Now he's the clan genius and proper heir. Hinata's changed too - as she's not the heir she doesn't face quite the same pressure. Eventually Hanabi is born, still very talented at the family art but also of the branch family. A couple years older too. Otherwise the usual things happen, it's just that Hinata and Hanabi are of the branch while Neji is of the main family."
"Hanabi's older?" asked Naruto, not remembering having met Hanabi Hyuga, but there WAS a younger girl frequently with Hinata in those images.
"Yes, various things shifted around, but some things apparently remain - and Hinata having a younger sister more talented at the family martial arts style is one of them," admitted Toltiir. "Though Hinata is more skilled at cooking, cleaning, and similar tasks that are now not considered below her station. Kind of interesting how that works out."
"So Neji is..." Naruto pointed at an image where the boy sneered at the two girls doing housework.
"Going on about how it is his fate to be of the main clan and superior to the branch family? Yes, it does seem to have worked out that way. It doesn't have to be that way forever though, you know," said the cat.
"How?" asked Naruto, pointing at the sphere on which the images were displayed.
"Like so," said Toltiir.
