"An inn or tavern from the look of it, probably frequented by the local farmers," Rii strung her bow and checked her arrows. Her skills as a Ranger were enough to tell her (even at first level) the basic story. "Looks like it was abandoned after a fire in the common room. Something must have happened to the owner that he didn't rebuild it."
"Hmmm," agreed Lyta as she checked weapons. Her favored weapon seemed to be a European style sword. Seeing Ranma watching her she blushed and pointed at it. "My old teacher always said your life depends on your weapons and your armor, so you have to take care of them so they can take care of you."
Ranma snorted. Weapon users.
"Hey! I should be checking for traps!" Myna realized at once as she finally got a thorn out of her shoe. Maybe lowcut soft boots weren't that practical, but they looked nice!
Lyta was familiar with a number of weapons, but the best one she had was her trusty sabre. A gift from her teacher, it wasn't magical or anything - but it was pretty well made compared to the usual sort of equipment she'd have started off with.
A lot of newbies would go to the cheapest place to buy things, like Rakhal's Used Weapons. The problem was that those tended to either be cheaply made or badly worn or both. The last thing you needed was for the sword keeping the goblins at bay to bend in half when it parried.
While she was tall and had a lot of strength (some said she had some giant ancestry, though not to her face) she preferred an image of grace and poise. Hence the sabre. A curved light blade that was perfectly at home in a formal duel among the wealthy elite, fending off pirates aboard a ship, or slashing your way through kobolds in a dungeon.
Though she favored the weapon, she wasn't a specialist. Her teacher had taught her to rely on no single weapon.
Mercuria merely went over the details of the single spell she had memorized in her head. Sleep was the best area effect spell she had in her books.
"Hey guys, it's open!" Myna called from the doorway. "It wasn't trapped after all!"
