Sakura Haruno was charging a light elf girl who was making a quick set of handsigns.
Ino Yamanaka was leaping at the dragon-girl, one arm chambering for what looked like an all-out haymaker.
Naruto Uzumaki was hiding under his desk.
Hinata Hyuga was hiding under HER desk.
Shiroko, the white lamia/snakegirl, had curled up on herself and was occasionally catching small thrown objects and lobbing them back at the various throwers. Of course, her aim could use a lot of work.
Sasuke Uchiha was standing in a corner, looking fairly bored as he deflected a bookbag that had been thrown his way.
Iruka Umino blinked and checked again.
Sakura Haruno had just been intercepted by a dark elf who had the pinkette in an armlock.
Ino Yamanaka was heading toward the ceiling at high speed, with the dragongirl having used an uppercut and longer arms to change Ino's trajectory.
Naruto Uzumaki was trying to sneak towards the other door.
Shikamaru Nara was already out that door.
Hinata Hyuga was also heading for the door.
Sasuke Uchiha was deflecting a stapler that had nearly hit him.
A bunnygirl Naruto-fan was in a cheek-pulling fight with a human Sasuke-fan.
Iruka considered what would likely happen if he went in right now. Iruka settled into place with his back against the wall, and listened for a few moments before checking again.
Hinata and Naruto had gotten tangled up together trying to exit the room at the same time, and Hinata had apparently fainted.
Sakura Haruno was trying to choke the dragongirl, despite the tail that had wrapped around her and was steadily applying pressure.
Sasuke Uchiha was out cold on the floor with what looked like a large lump forming on the side of his head.
The dark elf and the light elf were fighting, nothing new there, with Ino Yamanaka dangling overhead from where she'd impacted the ceiling. Oops, she just dropped - directly onto the two elves fighting.
Iruka nodded. NOW he could go in and calm things down. It was a ninja school, a certain degree of rough-housing was to be expected.
"I heard the new girls got into a fight with some of the established students," said one of the Councillors as he put a few coins in the vending machine.
"They're ninja students, of course there will be battles between them," said another Councillor, remembering her own youth.
"Usually it's the boys who establish their pecking order with violence," said the first Councillor, pressing a button and rewarded with a clunk as the drink dropped down the chute.
"True, girls tend towards more subtle but no less vicious attacks upon each other," said the second. "Nonetheless, it does happen. So what was the result?"
"Mostly in favor of the new girls, and Iruka Umino handed out extra homework and then graded them on 'unauthorized freestyle melee' performance." The first Councillor opened his can of beverage and was promptly sprayed by the head of foam.
"Hmph," stated the second Councillor, nodding as she took her own turn at the machine. "No punishments other than the homework? In MY day, we would have gotten much harsher punishment."
"In your day, we were at war with the other villages," said the first, not adding the whole 'dinosaurs walked the planet' because that would just get him hit on the head. Besides, it was too obvious an opening.
"True, ah well," said the second. "It'll be interesting to see how Uzumaki handles the situation."
"What situation is that?" asked the first.
