"These are all people that Naruto rescued?" asked the Hokage of the girl who was like the bulk of the people coming out.
"Yes," said Shadeleaf. "The ones like me are my people."
Kerpushhhh! went a nosebleed and one of the jonin went down.
The Hokage nodded, having expected this when the device had been found, and therefore not in trouble from the naked and near-naked forms of the women. Though they were all quite attractive, he was still able to maintain some decorum since he was prepared.
He did note that while they were all like Shadeleaf in that they had pointed ears and similar facial features, and that they were apparently fit and fully mammalian in appearance (not wanting to spend too long appreciating that part lest he suffer for it like that one jonin) - coloration varied.
Most had either pale or lightly browned skin and green hair (varying shades) and eyes (also varying green shades) with mostly identical feminine features.
Some, nearly identical to the majority in features/form, had very different coloration. One was nearly reddish in skin, with long hair going nearly down to her ankles in a sort of bluish green coloration that strongly contrasted that skin. Another was very pale with pink hair. Another was pale, even to her hair which was white.
These were the bulk of the dryad race, then.
Then there were the little flitting forms with the dragonfly wings. "What are those little ones?"
"They are called 'pixies', my lord," said Shadeleaf. "Sort of a branch family."
Then came four forms which caused the various jonin to dart hands to weapon holsters.
"Stop!" commanded the Hokage before the situation could escalate.
"As my lord Hokage has discerned, these are also allies of Naruto, here to seek a new homeland," said Shadeleaf, not accidently trying to insert herself into the local authority by making herself valuable.
The Hokage didn't miss that, but went ahead and allowed it since ambition could be a useful trait. "And these?"
"These are the thri-kreen, my lord," said Shadeleaf. "Warriors with throwing-blade and those spears."
These were tall mantis-people. Six limbs, two of which were legs, the middle two seemed to be a cross between arms and legs, and the upper limbs ended in what was apparently hands if the way they handled their weapons primarily with those was any indication.
Shadeleaf made a set of clicks and whistles, and the thri-kreen gathered in front of the Hokage and knelt in approximation of the human manner.
The Hokage blinked and regarded Shadeleaf.
Shadeleaf shrugged. "As you are Naruto's boss, and they swore to follow Naruto, they're now waiting for you to comment. They understand human language but have some trouble speaking it. Their own language is difficult for the 'soft-fleshed' to manage."
"I see," said the Hokage, making a quick decision. "Welcome to the Leaf."
[What about here?]
"That would depend on mass and other factors."
[Current plans are to use this as the initial mass, then use the stored mass and energy from these.]
"Ooooh. Meteors and comets, eh? Going to go the long route?"
[Some things should be done properly and in the proper order.]
"Interesting. Use this position here. I'll set up the orbital mechanics and an adjusting/maintaining mechanism."
[Let me see. That's an odd design.]
"Eh. I got it from a guy named Arthur C Clarke on one of the Earth-variants. Trust me, black monoliths are cool."
To normal sight, it would pass unnoticed.
The ninja world, however, was filled with people who had other senses they could bring to bear. Those who could sense chakra, ki, magic, or any number of similar forces felt it to varying degrees. Those who could sense gravitational shifts also noted the presence. As it was occurring at night, people got out to look in that direction. Because it was black, because it was in space, and because it wasn't all that big - they couldn't see it. It was also 100 feet deep, 400 feet across, and 900 feet long. It appeared in what most sensors would describe as an exceedingly dense but complex set of chakra strings.
The monolith waited, observing.
Then space shimmered as the Destroyer used energy to reconstitute patterns observed when it had reached out and destroyed them. Asteroids formed, or re-formed if you prefer.A large mass sat in an orbital space a little further out than the original moon.
Asteroids began forming and slamming into the center mass. Comets were next.
And in one little area, one person looked up with a spyglass and proclaimed it the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen.
It continued for several hours, then stopped again.
Lord Pein twitched.
"What is it, Nagato?" asked Konan.
"The amount of power needed to do that," said Lord Pein. He'd considered himself a god. He'd considered himself unstoppable. After observing with various senses for the hours that the moon had been overhead, he... was a little less certain about the whole supreme godhood thing.
"It wasn't a genjutsu?" asked Konan.
"No. I would've seen through a genjutsu," said Pein. "Chunks of ice the size of islands, rocks the size of continents. Being brought together with very precise aim and force. Someone is building a moon, and unlike with my own technique, they are bringing the materials up for it to make it very precisely."
"I have some bad news," said Konan. "Something keeps disrupting my paper dolls when I try to send them into Konoha."
"Then we shall have to find another method," said Pein, causing one of his bodies to step forward. "Fortunately, we do have other measures."
