Mischief Fragment - Cardmaster: Taijutsu [Episode 255218]

by Kestral

Kakashi Hatake looked over the young busty redhead. Her stance was casual and relaxed. And, to his experienced eye, ready to explode into action in considerably less than a heartbeat.

His students were obviously outclassed in a fight, whoever this was.

"Oh, you want a taijutsu master?" asked Kakashi. "Well, let me see."

"Guys, this is Maito Gai and his mini-me," said Kakashi.

Gai frowned at Kakashi.

"Rock Lee," stated the mini-me.

"Whatever," said Kakashi dismissively.

"Calm yourself, Lee. Why did you ask me to come here, Kakashi?" asked Gai.

"That would be me, actually," said the redhaired girl, flicking her braid off her shoulder. "So, you're into taijutsu?"

"Indeed," said Gai. "Lee. You're up."

"Gotta fight the student to challenge the master, huh?" asked the girl, looking bored. "Pfeh. So troublesome. He ain't got nearly enough to challenge me."

"Gai-sensei?" asked Lee.

Gai nodded. "That is the way of things."

"So be it," declared Lee, slipping into a ready stance.

"Anytime you're ready," said the redhead.

"Your name, please, I am Rock Lee, proud genin of Konohagakure!" declared Lee.

"Eh," said the redhead, before nodding. "Okay. Call me 'Ranma' and I'm not a genin so much as a force of nature."

"Then begin," said Gai.

"Fast," said Sasuke, watching as Lee raced across to begin throwing a combination of kicks and punches at the Fight Card.

"Both of them are, but look at those eyebrows!" said Sakura, shuddering at the look of those.

"Look at his hands, those bandages are all scuffed up," pointed out Naruto. "Dude must seriously train."

"Indeed," said Gai, startling all three who hadn't realized the other sensei was that close. "Lee spends most of the day honing his skills and pushing his capabilities. He is a most promising student."

"Who is fighting someone who is dodging every move he makes," pointed out Naruto.

"They're so fast I can't keep up from watching," realized Sakura aloud.

After cranking up the speed briefly, Ranma kicked Lee in the head, leaving her foot resting on Lee's face. "Lose the weights."

"Oh, you could tell?" asked Gai.

"Yeah," said Ranma, hopping backwards. "Or have I proved myself enough that you'll give it a try?"

Gai nodded. "Lee. I'll take over."

"Yes, Gai-sensei!" proclaimed Lee, stepping back.

"'Weights'?" asked Naruto.

Lee nodded at him, then rolled up a legwarmer to reveal a wrap of weights.

"Oh, secret weapon?" asked Naruto.

"Something like that," admitted Lee.

Gai blurred and seemed to vanish. Ranma merely smirked, her eyes flicking around the area.

Then Gai was visible again, mid-air with his leg a few inches away from Ranma's head.

Ranma had apparently not only seen the attack, but managed to block it.

"Now this is a little more like it," said Ranma, openly smiling.

"Indeed," said Gai, smiling back.

Then the two blurred and vanished again.

So this is the level I need to be at, thought Sasuke to himself. I can't even see where the two are, except for the occasional patch of grass flattening. Tree bending, foliage exploding, and sound of impact. Without those cues I wouldn't be able to tell what was going on.

Sasuke gently reached over and pushed Sakura's jaw into the closed position. For once I can't blame her. This is the level of combat power of a jonin.

"This..." said Naruto.

Sasuke glanced over at Naruto.

"This is so cool!" exclaimed Naruto.

"Hnn," indicated Sasuke, turning his attention back to the parts of the fight he could actually follow.

"Who IS that girl?" asked Lee, glancing from Sakura to where he could occasionally make out the blur of his sensei and his opponent. "She is not a genin?"

"No, she..." Naruto abruptly collapsed.

Gai was suddenly standing there, looking puzzled.

"Ran out of chakra?" asked Kakashi, glancing at his student.

"Looks that way," said Sasuke after checking for a pulse.

"Chakra?" asked Gai.

"The girl is actually some sort of summons," said Kakashi. "I noticed that she was drawing on Naruto's chakra. Little bit of drain when she wasn't fighting, bigger drain fighting your student, much bigger drain fighting you."

"I see," said Gai. "Though normally I summon turtles and you have your hounds, Kakashi. This is the first time I've heard of a summoning that pulls forth a warrior spirit."

"Oh, I've heard of it before," said Kakashi. "Some of the high level techniques of the Sharingan seem to do something similar. Naruto seems to have that sort of summons available to him."

"Hmmm, interesting," said Gai, rubbing his jaw with one finger as he worked on that. "Come, Lee."

"Yes, Gai-sensei!" said Lee, who paused and then bowed to Team 7. "I hope that you will allow me to have a rematch after I have trained further. I have been inspired to further my taijutsu to reach that level!"

"Yosh, Lee! Well said," said Gai, nodding approvingly. "Later Kakashi, this battle was unfortunately inconclusive."

"Oh, the little girl too much for you?" asked Kakashi almost lazily.

"We were still determining the fight's level when she faltered and faded away," said Gai. "Take care of your students, Kakashi. They show potential."

"That they do," said Kakashi, almost too quietly for anyone to overhear as Gai walked away.
