"He's a jonin, they're supposed to be the elite among ninja," said Yuri. "Okay, you remember what I said about holding all your pokegirls back until you had the money to feed and equip us?"
"Yeah," said Naruto.
"I take it back, we're gonna need serious firepower for this," admitted Yuri.
"Great, Yukiko should be perfect for this," said Chie with more enthusiasm.
"Isn't she a Fire-element? In a thick forest?" asked Yuri.
"So get Rise, she's a Psychic type, she can probably quench fires," said Chie.
"'Probably'?" asked Yuri.
"Well, what about Mitsuru and her ice spells then?" asked Chie.
"Oh? Do you really think that will help?"
There was a moment when everyone went still, and in the next they were busy reacting. Naruto's hand dove towards his belt. Chie leapt in what would have been a devastating kick. Yuri started rooting around in her pouch.
A moment later, Kakashi was standing next to a group of scattered and unconscious young people. Moving quickly, he decided to strip Naruto of everything that might be used to summon others as his doing so was quite defeating the purpose of the test.
"So Naruto gets tied to a post because he didn't even go for the bells - he was just concerned with his summons and abandoned his team. Sasuke gets tied to a post because he tried to do everything himself. And Sakura gets tied to a post because she didn't do anything at all other than hide in the bushes. And not very well at that." Kakashi looked at the three genin. "Worst. Genin. Team. Ever."
"Why am I stripped down to my boxers?" asked Naruto.
"Because you're the number one unpredictable Academy knucklehead," said Kakashi.
Naruto started concentrating or pouting. Kakashi couldn't tell and wasn't that concerned as to which it was anyway.
"So you failed. Failed badly." Kakashi shook his head and gave his pre-rehearsed speech on teamwork. How the Leaf Village emphasized that compared to some of the other traits embodied by other villages. He didn't even look at these losers, so disappointed with their performance was he.
So when he finished his speech and noticed that all three were missing, he paused for just a few seconds. He also noted that Naruto's underwear was on the ground. Sakura's post was missing. Sasuke's post was there but his ropes were not.
"Okay," admitted Kakashi. "That's a little more promising."
Thud Whack
"You're getting better at teleporting," said Sakura. "Now untie me. I got tangled up here."
"I'm looking for clothes."
"Okay," said Sakura, taking in the sight of a naked Naruto rooting through his dresser. "Do that. Sasuke? Are you... oh darn. Your clothes made it."
Sasuke managed to icily glare at the team kunoichi.
"Okay," said Naruto, now wearing a pair of orange swimtrunks. He quickly got a knife from his kitchen and sliced ropes.
"We need a plan," said Sakura thoughtfully. "He's a jonin and we're not going to be able to beat him like this."
"I thought my girls would be able to catch him by surprise, not so much apparently," said Naruto, now looking for more clothes he could put on. On the way, he picked up a TV remote and clicked a series of buttons.
FWASH!
Sasuke raised an eyebrow at the odd gadget in one corner of the room that had just lit up.
"Good idea," said Sakura. "I still don't know what you got other than Yuri."
"Yuri, Dark Elf," said Naruto from where he was changing clothes in his closet. "Hang on. That's better."
"Why don't you wear that more often?" asked Sakura as Naruto came out of the closet wearing something not nearly so orange.
"That outfit's a lot tougher, this gets ripped up too easy," said Naruto as he pinched his midnight-blue tank top. "It's not like I got a lotta money, you know. Sides, I like orange."
"What is that, anyway?" asked Sasuke, pointing at the gadget.
"Mini Pokecenter," said Naruto. "Got it from that Nurse Joy we met. Figured with Yuri around I'd need something."
There was a clicking noise and six balls rolled into place.
"You ended up with six of them? How are you going to pay the food bills?" asked Sakura.
"Yeah, well, that's why they stay in their balls," countered Naruto. "I can't afford their clothing, food, or anything else right now."
Sasuke picked a corner of the room to go brood in, though he was quite curious about the whole thing.
