Kyle kept his eyes forward as he saw his destination come into view, the planet that lay at the center of the universe, the green planet of Oa.
Oa was convenient as a base of operations for the Green Lanterns and its people, a race of blue-skinned humanoids who have dubbed themselves the Guardians of the Universe. Still, even with what was known about it now, it was a place of wonder and it’s past a mystery. According to some ancient texts, the Guardians were not of Oa but had in fact, originated in a planet called Maltus. It was after these Maltusians later moved to Oa that they garnered the name of “Oans”. What the Guardians would insisted was that they, the Oans, had lived there since the beginning and that they only became the Guardians when one of their own, the mad scientist Krona tried to discover the creation of the Universe and caused a wave of evil to engulf the worlds and created an anti-matter Universe of evil. He was exiled for this crime and the Oans had to take it upon themselves to protect the Universe.
If you asked him on Oa, he would firmly agree with the latter … asked him anywhere else and he was one of those people that would call “bullshit”. Still, it gave him a nice story to tell the kids on the way their as his green sphere rocketed them through outer-space.
Not that Ukyo or Ranma were in much of a state to notice. The boy was still sleeping off his exhaustion—broken only by somehow consuming the pizza-things the girl was cooking inside the construct sphere.
They weren’t half bad either, as he was now munching on his second one on their journey. When she got a bit older, perhaps he could get her recipe into Gardner’s pub or whatever he was calling it now.
“Okay, kiddies,” he called out—not that he needed too, as the green energy transmitted the sound perfectly to them, since space was a vacuum, “time to cover you up till we get to Ganthet’s lab.”
“Sure!” Ukyo chirped, as she flipped another of her okonomiyaki off the grill, angling it perfectly to land in Ranma’s open mouth.
Kyle just blinked as the light snores stopped, a ‘nom-nom-nom’ sound followed, as the item disappeared into his mouth, soon followed by a quiet gulp, and then the snores resumed.
“… Okay,” he muttered. Seriously, some of the other Lanterns were correct: Earth could be weird at times, Earthlings in particular.
Seeing the perturbed look on the Green Lantern’s face, the young Kuonji just continued to smile. “What can I say? Ranchan has always loved my okonomiyaki! And when I’m older, he can have the one thing that is most precious of mine…”
Kyle just gawked in horror. Kids shouldn’t talk like that!!
At the expression on the Lantern’s face, the girl blinked her eyes. “What? I’m talking about the recipe for my secret sauce.”
“… Buttoning you up now,” Kyle sighed, coloring the sphere enough to obscure the view into the sphere. Seriously, he was spending wa~ay too much time around Gardner if he was thinking things like that. Not everyone had such a dirty mind.
… Well, not all humans, anyway.
Following the instructions Ganthet had sent to his ring, he soon arrived at the Big Blue’s lab, which was currently also next to whom he guessed he was to release the prisoners too.
“Yo, Pozer,” chuckled Kilowag, what passed for a smile on his face. “Heard you ran into some trouble!”
“Trouble?” Kyla scoffed. “Nah! No trouble at all, Kilowog,” he told the Highest Ranked Officer of the Green Lanterns as well as the Corps’ best drill instructor. “As you can see, I have this clearly well in hand…” he grinned as he outstretched his hand, willing the three see-thru spheres to come forward between him and the last of the Bolovax Vikans.
The big alien chuckled as he allowed his will to take over powering the three constructs. “I’ll make sure these yellow rings get taken to the Foundry after these two get acquainted with their new Sciencells… I heard they recently added indoor plumbing for the condemned. Ain’t that sweet?”
“Ooooh…” a cherub female voice whispered in awe. “Dad was right! Pink hippos DO exist!!” And here she thought her old man was hallucinating when he drank too much.
Cringing, Kyle remembered that perhaps, the insides still let you see out.
Kilowag merely raised an eyebrow at that—or … maybe what passed for an eyebrow for his people. “And that one?” he asked.
Kyle shrugged, “Special delivery for Ganthet.”
“That ain’t an answer.”
“You are not cleared to know the answer, Green Lantern Kilowag,” Ganthet said, as he and his conscripted helper, Sayd, floated out the open door. “For now, it contains something we need to investigate … carefully, so don’t spread any word of what you’ve seen.”
As man of order, Kilowag nodded. “Right, Rayner here only showed up with these two mooks and that’s all,” he replied. “I’ll be off then to show them their new rooms.”
“Thank you very much, Green Lantern Kilowog, your professionalism is utmost appreciated,” Ganthet said appraisingly with a bow of his head.
The big pink Hungry Hungry Hippo alien nodded his head in reply before turning about face and walking out of the entrance of the Oan’s lab, the two large and one small green spheres floating behind him as he made his way.
Once the door was closed behind the large Green Lantern Officer, the blue female turned towards Kyle. “Now then, Officer 2814.4; Ganthet said you have something of urgency to share with us?” She had been the only other of the Guardians that Ganthet could trust implicitly with things he deemed important. The others of the Council tended to… ‘overreact’.
And really, they had just restored the Corps, they couldn’t afford for it to break down … again!
“You could say that,” Kyle stated, as he lowered the construct, setting a smiling young girl down, next to a now-awake and eating boy.
“Your stuff’s the best, Ucchan!” Ranma smirked, wiping his mouth off, as Ukyo beamed with pride.
“You … reproduced?” asked Sayd.
“No, Sayd,” Ganthet chuckled, as he floated over to the two. “Greetings; I am Ganthet, and this is Sayd. We are the Guardians of the Universe, and leaders of the Green Lantern Corps.”
“Wow,” Ukyo said with awe.
“Hi!” Ranma waved, trying to appear cute, innocent, and definitely not super-powered.
Ganthet chuckled. “It’s nice to meet you both, although I do admit; I was only expecting the young lad.” He turned towards Kyle, eyebrow raised questioningly. “So why bring her here?”
The best the man could do to answer was to shrug his shoulders. “What can I say? She gave me that eye-thing all females can give to get her way.”
“…” Ganthet blinked his eyes once, twice. “Really, Lantern Rayner that is so—OH ENTITY! MAKE HER STOP!” the Guardian shrieked as she turned such a bright, happy, cherub and sickeningly sweet gaze towards HIM!
“Tee-hee,” the little girl giggled. “What can I say? I’m too cute! Even Ranchan says so!”
Ranma blinked his eyes once, twice. “I do?”
“… What does ten okonomiyaki say?”
“I DO!!” The boy replied, nodding his head so fast it looked like his neck would snap in twain.
Chuckling again—proving that yes, he was one of the more sane level-headed human Guardians, Ganthet faced Ranma again. “Actually, child; I do believe you know why we have asked you here.”
“… Nope, not a clue,” Ranma stated with a smile … which fell off as several screens appeared, showing him creating constructs during the battle.
Sayd stared as well, now understanding why Ganthet had brought her into this. In their long time alive, there had always been rumors, rumors of other spectrums in use, yes; but also, beings who could wield them … without rings.
And this … human child wielded the entire spectrum!
“Do not worry, Child,” Ganthet continued, as he used his Willpower to create several constructs. “You are among those of a like-skill.”
The boy looked on in awe. He was looking at their hands and seeing as they didn’t have any rings on their fingers. “You … you can do it too!?” He asked, hope welling up within him! At last! Answers! He would have answers! And from there—TRAINING!!
Nodding his head, the male Guardian answered, “Yes, but admittedly in a far more limited aspect than yourself. We merely have control over will, the truest power; one tainted by neither the negative or positive emotional spectrum. Just pure will.” Not that Ganthet hadn’t been trying, but it would appear if he was to use Hope, he would have to start wearing a blue ring.
“… But you could still teach me, ri~iiiiight?” the ponytailed youth asked, trying to wheedle out information from them.
Sayd floated forward a little. “Perhaps,” she said with a small bit of humor to her voice. “In will, most definitely … although there doesn’t seem to be much else to teach you besides focus.”
That made the youth blink his eyes once, twice. “Focus?”
“Yes,” the other Guardian floated up besides Sayd. “You have control and imagination—more so than numerous established Green Lanterns!” Left unsaid that he also had more than any of the Guardians besides himself, Sayd … and maybe Scar, (although the less thought about her, the BETTER). “What you lack however, is focus. Your emotions overtake your will and so constantly shift between the light and power spectrums … which isn’t as good as it sounds as each light has its own strengths and weakness. Why, I don’t think you want your blood suddenly turning to acid, do you?”
Ranma just blinked. Acid blood…
Nah, that was probably a bad idea … for now.
“However, we were also hoping to learn a bit more about your powers as well,” Ganthet continued. Truthfully, he’d rather like to know what the entire spectrum could do. They had theories about what Hope could do, and he only needed to recall recent—well, to someone billions of years in age, a few million years was recent—history to remember what Avarice could do. The Zamarons were secretive about their Sapphire Gem, so it was mostly theory and what encounters the Corps had had with it to determine its abilities.
But what could Rage do? Did they truly know all of what Fear was capable of? And the Indigo light; what was its emotion?
“But I still get training, right?” Ranma asked, bouncing from one foot to the other.
“Indeed,” Ganthet offered, patting Ranma on his shoulder. “But first, we need to make sure your body can … withstand what you are capable of … and see if it can be done without exhausting yourself so much.”
Ranma nodded. Yeah … passing out kinda sucked.
“So endurance training to raise my stamina,” the boy replied as he firmly struck a fist into an open palm. “All right! I shall be the most kick-buttingest will-user that has ever been!” He said with much bravado, tendrils of blue kicking about his as hope literally sprung eternal.
Color: Blue. Emotion: Hope. Entity: Adara
Needless to say it was with awe and a bit of urgency as a tendril came into contact with Rayner’s foot; Kyle’s ring announcing, Ring Charging, 110%. Ring Charging, 150%.
“Oh, not this again…” Kyle groaned as he shook his hand, the ring growing brighter and brighter.
Ring Charging, 240%. Ring Charging, 280%
“Child, if you would please release Lantern Rayner,” Sayd asked, gently placing a hand on the boy’s head. Despite the supposing boost of power beyond parameters she herself had thought locked … this was something to not get carried away with.
That made the boy consider what was unknowingly going on because of him. “Ah … okay,” and with that, the blue tendrils disappeared, merely supplanted by a green aura.
Power Levels 320%.
Looking back and forth from his ring, to the boy, the ring, and back to Ranma again, Kyle finally turned his gaze to the male Guardian. “Hey, Ganthet; would it be cheating it I went looking for Kilowog and asked for a sparring session at this moment?”
“Most likely,” Ganthet stated, as he placed his hand on Kyle’s ring, draining off the excess charge. While they knew how much energy the rings could theoretically hold, he’d rather not find out if they were off and by how much.
Ring Charge: 100%
“I do have, however, another task for you,” he replied with a smile.
Kyle sighed. Not only did his charge get negated—and thus cost him the pool of winnings for a defeat of Kilowag in a sparring session—but he knew that smile. Any being who had ever worked for another being knew that smile.
“Yep, so hate that smile,” Kyle stated, as he gave Ukyo the tour, starting with the mess hall.
Ukyo was excited. While Ranchan was taking some tests, she’d get to learn alien okonomiyaki recipes!
Earth was hers for the taking!
… At least, the fast-food portion of it!
“Now then, young Saotome...” Ganthet said, “this test is very simple. I would like you to concentrate on moving this ball from the table, over to that table over there,” he pointed to the furthest section of his lab. “Just concentrate on the movements … no pressure, no rush; not even focusing on a construct, just the light itself, just movement.”
Frowning, the youth had never tried to focus his power as just … POWER … but it made sense. He saw people using bubbles and whatnot so why not him? So reaching a hand out towards the ball as a form of focusing the direction of his power, the youth bit his lower lip and gnawed as he concentrated.
Color: Green. Emotion: Will. Entity: Ion
Ganthet smiled as he watched green light merely stretch forth from the boy’s open hand. “Good. You’ve got a hold of it. Now please, move.”
Nodding his head, Ranma started to move his hand over to the right, towards where the little blue man had instructed…
*CRASH*!
“… I moved it too fast, didn’t I?”
Staring at the table that had been broken in half and the metal ball that was now buried in the floor, the man nodded his head. “Perhaps just a tad.”
Smiling, he waved his hand, resetting the ball, the table, and the gouge in the floor, as well as reinforcing the walls, floor, ceiling, and creating a small barrier around himself and Sayd. Not that he didn’t have faith in the child, but better safe than—
WHAM!
“Well,” Sayd said, grunting under her own shield she had placed over his, “I must admit, he definitely has the power-portion correct.”
“Indeed,” Ganthet responded. “Perhaps … we should start with something … lighter … and less of a possible projectile?”
“Nah, I can do this!” Ranma stated, before calming himself, allowing his worries, emotions to fade into the background, slipping into a near meditative state. Can’t be any different from holding up all those books, or catching a fish, or rabbit…
Just have to think of it like that, like martial arts, minimal movement for maximum results…
It was then Ganthet and Sayd watched in awe as the boy moved his hand slowly; the control of light barely visible but the connection between his hand and the ball still readily apparent. With a much smoother transition, the boy moved the ball from one table to the one that the male Guardian had suggested before...
… And then to another…
… And another…
… And another…
… And another…
“Don’t be so prideful,” Ganthet said warningly as the green light was slowly taking on an orange hue.
“Sorry,” Ranma muttered, as the light returned to a full green color.
“Still, excellent progress,” he offered the child. “Now, shall we try more?” he asked, creating more balls.
Replication complete.
Ukyo smirked as the machine finished refilling her stock of supplies, which had allowed Kyle to jump to a nearby stall and rinse himself off fully of the sewage from Earth.
Well, wasn’t so much his idea, as the current Corps members in the mess forcing him to—even the Ardinian, and they lived in huts made from a cow-like creature’s fecal matter.
Still staring at the machine that was now mocking her, Ukyo felt something click together in her mind, something that had been silently bothering her about the machine. It could create anything, including completed meals.
She needed to know.
Kyle blinked as she set about cooking again, this time gaining the attention of the Corps through the smells of her own cuisine. “Um, what are you doing?”
“Making an okonomiyaki,” she stated. “Then, I’ll have this scan it and make one, and see if Ranchan can tell the difference!
“My pride as a chef of the Kuonji Okonomiyaki School of Martial Arts will not be equaled or surpassed by a machine!”
“Hey!” cried one Alpha Lantern.
Ukyo turned towards the shout. “… Odd. I didn’t think machines had feelings.”
“Well, we do!” the Alpha Lantern snapped. Damned organics, always thinking themselves so superior with their ability of love, loss, and concepts of having a soul. Well, a soul of silicon was fine, if not superior, thank you very much!!
“I must admit though,” Ukyo said as she allowed the machine to continue scanning her okonomiyaki. “I’m surprised you don’t have any chefs on hand.”
“Well, we used to,” Kyla admitted. “There’s the Great Dining Hall that was headed by the Executive Chef, Greet. He specialized in replicating dishes from across the universe as to accommodate the Green Lantern’s various nutritional needs.” The man frowned as he admitted, “However, for all the foods I’d been … er … ‘blessed’ to have seen him cook up in person—and believe me, I’ve seen him make Torrkillian Squid Jelly out of season—he had immense trouble replicating a number of foods from Earth.”
Kyle then involuntarily shuddered. The less remembered about the one time he asked for a, ‘hot dog’, the better.
Ukyo blinked her eyes one, twice. “Really? Can I meet him?” That guy had to have a lot of tips and tricks to give a budding cuisine master such as herself
“Um … maybe,” Kyle said slowly. “After an accident, he ended up as the ‘meat’ in a NUMBER of dishes.” And here he’d thought there were rules against eating sentient animals…
Ukyo just shrugged, going back to cooking, hiding a smile as many of the Lanterns started to edge closer to her position.
And like that, Ucchan’s becomes the first okonomiyaki restaurant in space! she internally squealed.
“But why always float around?” Ranma asked. “Walking is better for you.”
“I’m afraid when you get older, the Will may be there,” Sayd offered, “but the body, not so much.”
Ranma nodded, floating beside them, glad for the rest. The focusing exercise they were showing him were taking their toll, but he felt he wouldn’t pass out. Plus, they gave him something called the Greet Mystery Sandwich to help keep his energy up.
Kind of tastes like chicken, he considered, finishing it up. “What’s next?” he asked happily.
Ganthet smiled. “Not so much for now, but however, I was hoping to see if you would indulge me in a bit of curiosity about the other spectrums you are capable of?”
“Oh? Ranma asked curiously. “Well, besides Green, Will, I show off blue a lot…”
Ganthet nodded his head. “Blue, yes. Blue is good...” it was positively charged and only one space off from will, meaning it wasn’t something that could go purposely wild as far as he knew. “Tell me more.”
“Well, it’s usually when I’m in a good mood … or have something to look forward to,” Ranma replied. “Oddly enough; it doesn’t really seem to do anything but make it so I float and glowing with floaty bits of blue light.” He shrugged. “Sometimes I can make constructs if I’m truly focusing on it, willing it … but it’s REALLY difficult.” He paused. “However, it seemed to also affect the Green Lantern and be effected by him. My blue energy was reaching out to him with ease! That’s had to have been the first time I ever made a Blue Construct without even really needing to think about it … EVER!”
Ganthet nodded. At the very least, the child wasn’t … mixing … the spectrum. For him, they were still separate entities, with which he had to act using them as such.
It also explained why he mainly used Willpower, as just as the Guardians had discovered, it was the easiest to wield, with the least amount of drawbacks or affects on the user.
But, it also gave Ganthet the opportunity he was hoping for. “So, might this old Guardian trouble you for a bit, to study those spectrums?”
Ranma stared at his smile. That smile seemed wrong, as if a great deal of Common Sense cried out suddenly, about to be silenced.
“Order up!” Ukyo yelled, flipping out the … giant bug okonomiyaki into the air, and onto the plate construct of Mr. Pink Hippo.
Kilowag, however, was willing for the young girl to give him the new nickname, as he tasted it. “Oh frack, this is good—OW!”
“No naughty words!” Ukyo stated, as she went back to work, wondering how she was supposed to charge these people. What did space money equal in Yen?
“Well...” Ranma said slowly. “I don’t think it could hurt!” After all, the more these people learned, the more they could teach him in turn … and that meant he’d become more and more powerful! Why, maybe he’d finally start to be able to use all of the colors without effort! And if he could maybe mix green and blue…
Ganthet’s smile became surprisingly relaxed. “Thank you, Ranma. You don’t know what good you’ll be doing for the universe as a whole. By helping us, we can help you, and so many others!” Why, they may just be able to make new Lanthern Corps to protect the universe! And learn to better defend themselves against Sinestro’s Corps and perhaps even the Star Sapphires should they choose to become hostile.
He was just thankful there were no greater threats on the horizon.
Pausing in his plan to seek revenge on the Guardians, Atrocitus twitched suddenly.
“Ah... AH! ACHOO!”
*Splut*!
“Eeew!” growled Qull, of the Five Inversions. “Did you have to do that on me?”
“… Meh,” Atrocitus shrugged, before snapping the spine of his fellow Inversion. Red Lantern Batteries and rings didn’t just build themselves, you know.
Hmmm … maybe make that stuff acidic …yeah…
As they continued to float, Ganthet decided to probe with a question. There was something the youth said that caught his interest; it might explain why he was having such problems with his personal project. “So, Ranma…” the male Guardian started with a quizzical tone. “You say that when it comes to ‘blue’ energy, it’s difficult for you to perform on your own. But when Green Lantern Rayner was around, it flowed naturally?”
“Yeah,” Ranma admitted, nodding his head. “I thought it was just about everything coming together, being able to focus in the heat of battle … but it’s like the Blue power REALLY liked Kyle or something.”
“… Hope…” the Guardian mumbled. “Hope … is nothing without a will to see it through … but it one of great will suddenly has hope…” a twinkle of understanding came to his eye. Yes … actually that did make sense. While not a mixing of lights, it was a coexistence. A true opposite of fear, which was the one thing that could take something away from will, whereas fear would drain one’s will … hope replenishes…
… This project of his just might work!!!
Sayd sighed. It looked like Ganthet was about to begin a new project.
“I do have one question,” Ranma stated, working on shifting a sphere construct towards the other spectrums, as Ganthet’s machines studied each, “why do those guys need rings anyway? Can’t they do this?” Ranma had always wondered if they worked to help them do things remedially, such as a walker for an infant.
“Alas, no,” Ganthet stated sadly. “We Guardians are able to manipulate Willpower with ease, and there had been tales of others who do such. But the ability is quite rare, outside our species.”
Sayd nodded. “The rings are a tool for the Green Lantern Corps, that contain the raw energy for them to use, to form, but it also requires a strong will, the desire, to create what you need.” With that, she told the heavily edited tale of how the rings came to be.
“So, they just carry the power with them?” Ranma asked, trying to focus on making the ball into a violet color.
“No,” Ganthet chuckled. “They each have personal batteries, which are fed from the main battery on this planet, and much periodically charge their rings by reciting the Oath of the Green Lantern Corps.
“… Oath,” Ranma murmured, his eyes becoming distant, as the bubble construct immediately shifted to green.
Entity: Ion. Query: Oath…
“Child?” Sayd asked, noticing Ranma seemed unfocused, yet the construct remained.
“His eyes, Sayd!” Ganthet spoke, looking Ranma in the eyes, noticing that within the black, the Green Lantern symbol shown bright.
Raising his head, Ranma spoke, his voice carrying a light echo.
“In brightest day, in blackest night,
“No evil shall escape my sight
“Let those who worship evil’s might,
“Beware my power... Green Lantern’s light!” Ranma yelled, as the bubble pulsed, withered, and warped … to form a Green Power Battery.
“By the Light,” Sayd gasped, as the battery settled into a final shape.
Ganthet nodded, a screen popping up before him. “It … it isn’t even connected to the Central Battery.”
“What?” Sayd asked with complete shock evident to her voice. “Are you certain?” Such was practically heresy. That didn’t even include the fact he had done what was a very dangerous task at the best of times with a simple act and no apparent strain.
Pushing his own will through it to get a ‘feel’, the male Guardian nodded his head. “Yes. It … this lantern is its own self-controlled space of will-power…” he said in awe. “It … it reminds me eerily of Kyle’s first ring, but more-so. Whereas Kyle was not bound but still drew his power from what was left of the Central Battery, this is a battery that can power a ring to…”
His eyes widen. It couldn’t be! It couldn’t!!
“Ganthet?” The female Guardian asked, feeling worried as her friend’s complexion paled.
“There…” he gulped, unsure if he could believe it himself. “It really is like that prototype I made so long ago … only perfected!”
“Ganthet” She asked, urgency clearly evident in her voice. “What are you talking about?”
“Sayd,” he whispered, “as soon as this battery is hooked to a ring … it’s going to give an ever-lasting charge …with no yellow impurity!”
Almost as if it had been waiting, a green ring floated from the battery standing before the group.
Ganthet just stared. It was a perfect creation, more so since he doubted Parallax could be sealed in such a thing. If he didn’t know any better, he’d swear Ion had a hand in this.
And then it turned about and slid onto Ranma’s outstretched finger, automatically shifting his outfit to a Green Lantern theme.
“… Well,” Sayd started, “this will take some explaining to the others.”
Blinking, Ranma looked about, as if just waking up. “So, what’s their Oath?” he asked, shocking the two Guardians.
“You just recited it,” Ganthet spoke in a hushed tone. “What more, you also seemed to have willed a Personal Battery and a Power Ring into existence.”
Blinking, Ranma looked down, the bubble replaced with the Battery; his clothes no longer the red and black silk, but black and green … something. “Um … goodie?” he asked.
“Very good … if we can get them not to demand your immediate crucifixion for heresy,” Ganthet admitted slowly. He was certain Sayd would see some sort of sick humor in this and be all for this, but Basilus would be up in arms about it … and just be an outright paranoid dick.
“Oh, it’s not that bad, Ganthet,” Sayd stated. “We’ll simply say his ring is one you created during an experiment, and it got away.”
“My experiment?”
“I like living here, thank you very much,” the elderly bald Oan female snorted. “Just count yourself lucky to have not asked him about an Oath for a Blue Lantern.”
“Blue … Lantern … Oath?” Ranma considered. Even though wearing the uniform of a Green Lantern, his eyes shown with blue light, the shape of his irises that of a lantern symbol similar but far different from that of the Sinestro Corps; almost an inversion of Fear.
Entity: Adara. Query: Oath...
Turning about where they float, Ganthet and Sayd stared in shock. This … could it be? So soon?
“In fearful day, in raging night,
“With strong hearts full, our souls ignite!
“When all seems lost in the War of Light,
“Look to the stars, for hope burns bright!”
The light shot forth from his eyes, slowly cascading in one spot and into itself, slowly growing and taking the physical formation … that which could only be described as a Blue Power Battery.
As the blue construct floated between them, Sayd and Ganthet turned to each other. “So…” the female said slowly, “I take it this means your experimentation into making one is over?”
A small smile tugged at the corner of the male Oan’s lips. “No one likes a smartass, Sayd.”
Stating that, he smiled, before turning to his computer screen. Like Ranma’s Green Battery, this too, could be considered a perfect representation.
Of course, nothing prepared either of them, for a blue ring soon came out. Shockingly, it turned to Ranma, who should have been immune from a ring’s sense, with one already on his finger.
But then, it turned towards the door.
“I just hope Ranchan likes all the food,” Ukyo offered, as she watched to make sure Kyle didn’t spill any off the green plate construct that carried nearly fifty pounds of cooked okonomiyaki on it, for her Ranchan.
She hoped he liked it all, some of it her first experiments with alien ingredients that humans might like. She hoped he found it good, and even, approved of their fathers plans for them to marry.
She hoped…
Hope Detected
“What’s this?” Ganthet shouted in surprised as the blue ring suddenly took off like a rocket, rocketing towards the youth and smacking him in the forehead, making him spin head over heels in place as it crashed through a wall, leaving a basketball-sized hole.
“Wuh-wuh-wuh-wuh-wuh!?” Ranma cried out as he continued to spin in his place, his forehead aching like that time he missed one of those rocks his father threw during dodging practice. “URK!” He then gasped out as the two Oans used their own extension of will to “grab” hold of him and help right him up.
Yet, even if he was now upright, the world kept spinning around him. “Did someone get the number of that truck?” the boy burbled incoherently.
Kyle sighed as they headed down the corridor towards the Lab of Ganthet. True, he knew he shouldn’t show up until called for—even he wasn’t that much of an ass to any authority.
*cough*Garnder*cough*
But still, he’d run out of things to show the girl that wouldn’t raise questions … like what that blue glow stopping before the girl would raise. Somehow, I feel I might be blamed for this.
“Huh?” asked Ukyo, staring at it.
Ukyo Kuonji of Earth, you have within you great hope, the ring spoke, oddly in Ranma’s voice. As such, I offer you this chance to join my Blue Lantern Corps.
Ukyo, like any girl offered a ring by the male they loved, just squealed.
