Sakura had been targetted by Naruto previously with his cards. [Invisible] had been interesting, though most jonin and a few others had been able to sense her presence somehow. Admittedly, tripping and falling into a display of pots and pans hadn't exactly helped her stealth factor - but other than that it had been interesting. [Jump] had allowed her to make leaps beyond what she could accomplish without it. [Fly] had been her favorite though. So she recognized that he was throwing an enhancement at her when she and her bunshin were charging the Water card.
One water stream slammed into the Sakura on her right, dispelling the bunshin instantly. Then... everything slowed.
So this is the Dash, realized Sakura. No wonder it was so difficult to chase down. Everything is moving at half-speed, or rather my speed doubled. The air feels thick in front of me, and it's difficult to breathe.
The Watery saw her coming, panicked, and changed into a puddle of water just ahead of her hands.
Sakura tried to stop as she charged through the puddle, but discovered that her momentum was a bit too much and that wall was a bit too close.
The impact was forceful enough to rattle her teeth. She wasn't sure why she made a "squeegee" noise as she slid down the wall though.
"Are you okay, Sakura?" asked Naruto, running up.
"Moron, don't use an enhancement card until we've had a chance to practice it," responded Sakura as soon as she felt she could speak.
"Pfeh," indicated Sasuke.
"She's escaping down a drain," pointed out Naruto as the puddle streamed down a grate. "Now what?"
"How do you catch water?" asked Sakura, who then realized the answer to the question. "You use something waterproof."
"We'll need equipment," said Sasuke. "First. I need to dry off."
"Right, we'll need a plan," said Sakura.
"Today's mission?" asked Naruto as Kakashi-sensei showed up. Late. Again.
"It seems the Daimyo's cat," began Kakashi.
A card was brandished and invoked. "Windy. Find the cat." A breeze swirled around the genin briefly and then was gone.
Kakashi looked over his seemingly bored genin. "You didn't let me finish."
"Cat's vanished twice now," said Naruto. "Only question was when we'd get it again." Looking thoughtful, he sat tailor-fashion on the grass and laid a few cards out in front of himself.
Knowing the basics of these fuuinjutsu cards, Kakashi glanced at them and then opened his book and leaned against a tree. While it looked as if he were engrossed in his book, he went over the brief glimpse and put details together.
An ornate door. That would be his teleport technique that he used to get himself and the other two away the other day. A hooded cloak over a darkness - unknown. Don't think I've seen him use that. A card with a winged bunny? Might be that 'Fly' card he used the last Tora mission. One was definitely that 'Wind' he's fond of using. That one I've seen before. The weasel was new, haven't seen that before. A girl with a mirror, a blur, another winged creature, and the wooden one he tried to capture me with during the Bell Test.
"I was thinking of using these on Sakura when Windy finds the cat," said Naruto, pointing.
"Why not use me?" said a familiar-by-now voice.
The redheaded girl he'd seen before was leaning on her own tree, without a hint of being there previously.
"Because I still haven't beaten you in order to capture you," said Naruto.
"Meh. I'm bored," said the girl-summons. "Besides, you captured Dash now - I expect you to use that in this week's challenge. Won't be enough of course. That'll up your speed but burns through calories and chakra."
"How are you running around anyway? Aren't there already two cards free?" asked Sakura.
"Yeah, there's [The Watery] and [The Freeze] out now," admitted the girl-summons. "I'm kinda special now that it's established that I'm a weekly event. Besides, I was bored."
