Mischief Fragment - Wishcraft/MG: Three person teams? [Episode 256824]

by Kestral

"Team Seven, Kakashi Hatake jonin. Sakura Haruno. Sasuke Uchiha. Naruto Uzumaki."

"Awwwwww."

"Normally a team would be composed of the top kunoichi, rookie of the year and dead last of the class," noted Iruka. "It was successfully argued that putting Sasuke on a team with two of his groupies could be dangerous to everyone involved."

"Whoever thought that, thank you," said Sasuke softly.

"Originally Team Seven would have been Naruto, Kara, and Usagi," noted Iruka. "Putting Usagi on a team with someone who has medical skills seemed a wiser course."

There were muttered agreements throughout the class on that point, and the Viera in question ducked her head.

"So, Inku, you can stop sneaking up to add your name to the team," said Iruka without looking up. "Likewise, Ryuko, using your remote-manipulation jutsu to alter the roster is a bit late."

Both the drow sneaking up on the desk and the dragon-girl slumped a bit at being caught so quickly.

"So, putting me on a team with two people that don't like me?" asked Naruto, a bit miffed that all the girls-who-were-nice-to-him were apparently going to be on other teams.

"Same factor, even though your fanclub is more cooperative and serious about improving their skills," explained Iruka. "It DID come up, and it was felt that spreading out such talent would help the less accomplished students."

Naruto blew out a deep breath, wondering what the various girls were doing and not covering at all how bored he was.

Sakura just spent a lot of time admiring how cool Sasuke was.

Sasuke just brooded about all the time he could have been getting stronger, and why did HE have to have someone who was Dead Weight on his team. He wouldn't have thought that, possibly not even noticed, but some of Naruto's little helpers were DAMN competent in one thing or another. That put his own admirers in a worse light by comparison.

Finally Naruto came to some sort of internal decision, reached into a pouch, pulled out a notebook, and then rummaged through the pages. Selecting one page, he carefully tore it out and then placed it inside the track of the door.

"You're going to get in trouble!" warned Sakura, momentarily distracted.

Sasuke stirred ever so slightly as he considered the brief glimpse he had of the writing covering the page. Fuuinjutsu? He has something besides that 'rescue girls' one?

Naruto shrugged as he went back to his chair. "It's his fault for being so late. This way at least we get to see how good this guy is."

Sakura rolled her eyes. "He's a jonin. No way he'll fall for this." Kyaa! I hope it does something spectacular!

A few minutes later the door opened, there was a large poof of smoke and their jonin made a startled noise.

When the smoke cleared less than a second later, Sakura wasn't sure what she was looking at. "Is that yarn?"

"That's a sweater Inku tried to knit me, it didn't turn out so well as a sweater," said Naruto.

"Is it attacking our sensei?" asked Sakura, fascinated by the garish colors, the fact that it seemed to be developing new arms even as she watched, and that their jonin seemed to be losing the fight against the sweater.

"It's not actually alive, it just seems that way," said Naruto.

The jonin abruptly disappeared in a puff of smoke and the sweater dropped.

Sasuke raised an eyebrow. Did... a sweater just growl and sound disappointed?

FWOOM!

A jet of flame caught the sweater on fire and quickly finished it off.

"What WAS that?" asked their jonin as he used a kunai to make sure the beast was dead.

"Inku made me a sweater. She's really really bad at knitting." Naruto half-shrugged.

"What kind of name is 'Inku' anyway?" asked Sakura as the jonin continued to check for signs of life. Or undeath. It had been something she'd been curious about whenever she heard the name but never really bothered to ask before.

"She was a slave among her people, a tool to be used up in inter-clan warfare, the only name she was given translates to a 'an inkstain to be washed away in blood'," said Naruto, shrugging. "She's really good at stealth and kunaijutsu. Not so good at stuff like that."

"Well, my first impression of you guys is... you're pretty careless leaving something dangerous like that around," said Kakashi. "Rooftop. We'll let the classroom air out for now."
