Once her initial set of attacks had finished, he'd just tap her on the forehead to signal that he could have knocked her out. Match would be over, no hard feelings, no engagement to get worked up over.
Akane came scooting in, and instead of trying a set of punches was using a roundhouse kick. Still, easy enough to sway around it and back to rest position.
Ah, and here came a set of punches but she left herself way too open. A feint maybe? Well, how about if he did this?
WHAM!
"Oops," offered Ranma.
Nabiki wasn't sure what to expect. Akane started off with a kick, moving to some combination with punches as she moved forward. Ranma seemed almost to flow around the attacks and then-
Akane was unconscious for perhaps three seconds before sitting up on the floor of the dojo with a VERY surprised expression.
"Oops," said Ranma, looking a little alarmed. "Hadn't meant to do that."
"I see," said Soun, frowning. "Just the air pressure."
"Ugh," said Akane, sounding strained. "That was - what WAS that?"
"What are you guys talking about? Ranma didn't move," questioned Nabiki.
Akane rubbed her stomach as she got up, wincing. "No way. That couldn't be."
Soun nodded. "I'm afraid so."
"Father?" asked Kasumi, also apparently not understanding.
"My compliments on your speed," said Soun.
"Yeah, well, apparently my control is shot because I hadn't intended to do that," noted Ranma. "I'll have to do something about that."
Shizune checked the office, empty. It was late, but there were details on the reports that she really wanted clarified and confirmed.
Tsunade had left her office hours ago, after having the assigned teams return to Konohagakure via the same method they'd used to leave it.
It had just taken longer for Naruto to make more trips as Jiraiya was apparently doing something else.
Tsunade's quarters in the Hokage Tower were empty. As was the small nook she normally ate meals in when she was busy.
A small noise drew her to a window, and an ANBU looked at her from the holes in his mask then made a slight gesture with his head.
Ferret from the mask. Stealth expert who preferred using distance weaponry with genjutsu. Who likely wouldn't have shown himself unless he felt her presence was needed.
Shizune passed the ANBU, turned to say something, and noted he was already gone. Professional of him.
Tsunade stood on the roof, looking up.
Shizune was puzzled for a moment, then looked up herself.
A large segment of moon was slowly moving towards a much larger section of moon.
"Oh," said Shizune. "Well, that's good. He's replacing the moon I guess. Is that really going to be a D-Rank mission?"
Tsunade watched in silence for a moment. "What are the odds that an enemy ninja is going to attack him while he's doing that?"
"Not very high I suppose, but it's possible," said Shizune.
"How many ninja crazy enough to do that are going to actually pose a danger to Jiraiya right now?" asked Tsunade, her face and tone unreadable.
"There's probably one or two, but they'd probably wait until he's done replacing the moon and then hit him when he's exhausted," guessed Shizune.
"At the distance that's at, what do you suppose the speeds are?" asked Tsunade.
"I have no idea," confessed Shizune. "Orbital mechanics are kind of outside my field of specialty."
"They brought the Kazekage back from the dead, Shizune," said Tsunade, not looking at her assistant. She just kept watching the chunk of moon as it slowly moved across the sky. "This group ripped the One-Tail out of Gaara, killing him. That sort of thing is usually instantly fatal to the host. They killed Gaara and Naruto used a 'holy bean' and a jutsu to bring Gaara back."
"'Holy bean'?" asked Shizune.
"They call it a 'senzu bean'," said Tsunade. "I've got one of them, tomorrow I'll try to examine it and determine what it is and if I can grow more. For now though - I've got two ninja under my command who could potentially destroy entire kingdoms in less time than it takes to say that."
"Yes, well, it's Naruto and Jiraiya," pointed out Shizune. "Neither of them are exactly the sort who are going to go around blowing things up for the fun of it."
Tsunade finally wrenched her eyes away from the view. "Oh yes. I am quite aware of what would have happened if someone else had this sort of power. No. That isn't my concern."
"The other villages then? They may try to assassinate both of them, but they'd also know the consequences if they should fail," pointed out Shizune. "At least nobody knows the results of the lab tests."
"They were finished?" asked Tsunade.
"Yes, this 'zenkai power' of theirs is at least partially genetic, if one of them wanted to start a Zenkai clan it would probably be a viable kekkei genkai. Too early for complete certainty."
"Yes, well," Tsunade stopped and despite the dark Shizune could see how pale Tsunade had gotten.
"My lady?" asked Shizune.
"There is another way the other villages might try and get a kekkei genkai," said Tsunade.
"Well, at least the hospital is keeping the report secure," said Shizune.
