In an unaltered timeline, he would not have discovered a new approach to fuuinjutsu and would have just been extra loud and annoying while bored.
As this WAS the person whose most proud accomplishment was a "rescue from parallel worlds girls from certain death situations if they'll be my friend" jutsu - this was the sort of thing which had Consequences.
Kiiromaru, had this been an unaltered timeline, would have been simply one of the Inuzuka dogs who had lived past the death of his human partner and would have simply been an additional guard on the Inuzuka property. He would have eventually died at the hands of a Otogakure ninja. Here he was a bit more active but his future was not nearly so much a dry statistic.
"So, another attempt at summoning ramen?" asked the old yellow dog.
"No, not quite," said Naruto, laying the additional scroll out across the other two he'd spread. "Now I need to have a talk with someone."
"Oh?" asked Kiiromaru as the boy sat in the center triangle and went into a meditative state. "Hmmmm."
"A sewer?! Yecchhh," said Naruto, wading through the muck. "This is just nasty."
It seemed to take him a good half-hour to find the large gate with a seal on its lock. "This must be the place."
"You have a talent for stating the obvious."
"Okay, you must be the Kyubi. I'm Naruto Uzumaki!"
"I would repeat myself here, but it would probably go over your head."
"Well, you are quite a bit taller than me, so that would probably be the case."
There was a snort from the other side of the gate.
"Anyway, I'm here to make you a deal."
"Why should I make a deal with useless fleshbags? You don't even know my name! Begone, mortal."
"Do you know how to change the settings here? You may be the evil Ninetailed Demon Fox, but this is kinda dank and depressing and the smell of wet fur is kinda gross."
There was a great stirring as something huge shifted beyond the gate and regarded him with blood-red eyes.
"Let's see, this is all probably one of those psych things," said Naruto as he considered things around him. "So was I sloshing through my subconscious and was that slimy stuff maybe my ego or something?"
"I am not exactly an expert on monkey minds. Is there a reason you're still bothering me?"
"Eh, yeah actually. Ryuuko, that's the dragon-girl, she has this 'divine gaze' thing. Said that you're a mass of anger and dark emotions and such, but that in the right circumstances and such - you can be... what was the word she used?"
"A force of nature? Destruction incarnate? The Ninetails of Terror?" suggested Kyubi.
"Actually, I think it was 'recruitable' or something. Oh wait. Got it! It was you could rehabitualized... no that isn't it."
"Rehabilitate?"
"THAT'S IT!" declared Naruto, pointing into the cage.
"Don't be insulting! Why would I ever agree to help a bunch of hairless monkeys?"
"Because if I can figure out how, I can change this from a sewer to something that doesn't involve disgusting things floating around in the water?" asked Naruto.
"I think those are your baser impulses," said the Kyubi, sounding slightly intrigued despite itself.
"Yeah, I think that one is a phobia about ghosts or something," said Naruto, pointing at something in the waters.
"Doesn't matter, I don't think you can change this. At least not very much," grumbled the Kyubi.
"So," said Naruto. "If I find a way to let part of yourself out of this jail, I want a promise you're gonna behave."
The Kyubi stared at the boy before making a huffing noise and then curling up on itself again and seeming to settle down for a nap. "If you could manage such a thing, I would do so and gladly. Since what you state is impossible. I have little difficulty in giving that promise."
"Well then, I'll see you later, Kyubi!" said Naruto, beginning to fade away.
There was brief silence as Naruto faded away, only to be broken just before he vanished entirely.
"Kurama. At least try to get my name right."
There were a number of people present for this. After all, if it went POORLY - then hitting it with everything they had right away was just good planning.
If it went WELL, and everything was as advertised - then the potential benefits were great.
That said, the number of people who truly knew what was going on was very limited due to a number of factors.
That Danzo Shimura had suffered another heart attack when his spies had learned of this, and was now bed-ridden as a result, well - that just caused a few people who knew him to consider it a plus for the "worth a try" category.
Naruto had been inspired, had worked on it, and had his work checked several times.
When he was done, sitting in the center of the circle was Kurama - the avatar of the Kyubi. It was also:
