The Trouble with Love Charms: Meet Nabiki, my Kitsune Wife [Episode 25836]

by Errol Peregrinus

Ranma sighed in confusion. ‘This is what happens when you mix idiots and magical artifacts,’ he thought to himself.

Ranma wished that the few hours between the picnic and going to bed was not so hazy. Ranma had noticed, when Nabiki had pulled the covers back into place so as she cuddled into his side, that her hand was sporting a ring; it looked like a wedding ring.

Yep, a matching ring on my hand. What the hell happened yesterday. And, what did Nabiki mean by making Kuno pay for keeping me away from her sister? I hope she was referring to Akane and not Kasumi... naw, definitely Akane.

Not feeling tired at all, after his recent scare and current confusion, Ranma just laid in bed and pondered. ‘I do remember that Pops and Tendo-san had that Kame no Tsuyagoto, or was it a Henshin no Tsuyagoto? I wonder why it is called a Love Affair Jug, when it looks like a shrunken bird skull. They had bought it from that strange, old, smelly shop on Shingei Street. I’m not to sure what happened after they pulled out that ratty old skull.

Ranma remembered that it had been a lovely summer day, perfect weather for a picnic. ‘The family had been looking forward to the picnic for more then a week, now. Everything was going fine too, in the beginning. Then that skull came out and some of the rivals and fiancées showed up. Tatewaki and Kodachi was there, and so were Shampoo and Mousse. Then that odd explosion and catching Nabiki. The picnic mood was ruined and we all came home. Pops and Tendo-san ran off. I don’t even want to think what him and Tendo-san were doing in Tendo’s bedroom. Not wanting to listen, at all, I left. OK, Akane got mad and punted me away. So, how did I end up married to Nabiki?

Coming up blank on this concern, Ranma turned his thoughts to other pressing issues. ‘What happened to Nabiki?’ Ranma wondered about Nabiki’s furry state. Looking closer, he could see that the fine layer of fur on her was the same as her normal hair color. She also had black markings. The backs of her new ears were all black. The tip of her nose was darker then normal. Her left hand, laying on top of the covers, was also blackish. No whiskers though, and her tail did not look like a cat’s tail. It was bushy, came to a white tip, and looked more like a foxes tail.

Pops had a magic item, Kuno had a magic item, and maybe even Shampoo had a magic item. I can kind of understand waking up with Nabiki. Pops had bought a love charm from Kottou Koiji. Ko-ko is only the world’s worst place to buy love magic as none of their products ever workout the way people want them to. But what does Kuno have to do with Akane? Is she OK?’ Then Ranma shuddered at the thought of Akane and Kuno waking up in the same bed, married. ‘Man, first Akane is going to kill me for sleeping with her sister, then again for marrying her sister, and one more final time for letting her get married to Kuno.

Ranma was still awake when Kasumi softly knocked on the door.

“Come in,” Ranma quietly replied, careful not to wake Nabiki.

Kasumi gently slid the door open and carried in a tray with breakfast. “I thought, after the busy day, and night, you had you would like breakfast in bed,” Kasumi informed Ranma while blushing.

“Uh... thanks. Hey, Kasumi, can I ask you a question?”

“You just did,” Kasumi replied with humor.

“Er ... may I ask you a bunch of questions, then?”

“Sure thing Ranma-kun. If it’s about husbandly duties, then just remember that tab A goes into slot B.”

“Er ... right. Um, Kasumi, what happened yesterday? I remember the picnic. Tendo-san making everyone write wishes and tying them to bamboo, even though it wasn’t even a festival, and then there was a bit of a mess. How did Nabiki end up in my bed?”

“Oh,” Kasumi said with a shocked expression, “You mean, you don’t even remember your own wedding?” Kasumi looked disappointed with Ranma.

“Sorry, ah ... look, this is all a big surprise to me.” Ranma could feel Nabiki starting to stir by his side. “And Nabiki said something about Kuno and Akane. And I remember pops had some stupid skull he bought from Ko-ko. But, I don’t remember getting married. And, what has happened to Nabiki, look she’s covered in fur.”

As Ranma said that, Nabiki had begun to sit up, “What do you mean you don’t remember our ... Fur?”

“Oh My,” Kasumi exclaimed! Her shock at seeing her sister covered in brown fur with black markings and ears on top of her head was readily apparent.

Looking at his new wife, Ranma could see her eyes had lightened to a warm brown color, like tanned leather, and the hairs just around her eyes were black. Giving her the appearance of eyeshadow. Ranma could also see small fangs while her mouth was working, and no sound came out.

Both Nabiki and Ranma looked up as they heard Kasumi hit the floor in a feint.
