Sakura, in the process of unburying herself, got a glimpse through the bushes of what he had summoned and nearly turned around and reburied herself.
The biggest tyrannosaur whose remains had been found by humans was forty feet in length. This one was smaller, a mere twenty feet long, and had slightly longer forelegs than was otherwise found. Also wearing armor that looked appropriate for a samurai, including an odd double-bladed katana.
It roared and charged Kakashi Hatake. "BANZAI!"
Kakashi nearly dropped his book as he beheld the armored carnivore charging him. He decided that rather than stand there and try to dispel this genjutsu, it would be a lot better if he simply wasn't present to see what would happen if it caught him.
"All right you guys! That guy with the green vest is the target, get him!"
Kakashi glanced over at Naruto even as he was leaping out of the way of the lizard-thing, only to see a bunch of hornets speeding for him. Hornets wearing their own little flak jackets and carrying spears. Okay, best to avoid them too.
"Fluffy, go dig Sakura out," said Sasuke, jerking his thumb in a particular direction.
"Sakura is the hume girl?" rumbled the dinosaur.
"Yup. Teammate, so try not to damage her," said Sasuke.
"Hai hai, bossu," said the dinosaur, going through the brush.
"'Fluffy'?" asked Sakura's voice, sounding a little unsteady.
"'Fluffy'?" asked Sakura, looking up at the huge creature and wondering exactly how something that looked like that got a name like 'fluffy' anyway.
The creature lowered that head that seemed mostly to be composed of teeth and sniffed at her. "Hmph. Seem to be a bit injured there. Get on my back. Most defensive position for you."
"On your back?" asked Sakura.
"Hai. Don't worry, you hardly weigh a thing to me." The large beast lowered itself. "That way if I have to use fire, you're also out of the way."
"You're Sasuke's summons?" asked Sakura, making her way to the creature and then gingerly crawling up to where she could hold onto some of the straps on the armor.
Fluffy raised himself up as soon as he felt the girl take a position. "Aye. Justice, honor, and the chance to fight worthy enemies. How can a samurai of the Redclaw clan refuse?"
"Uh, how indeed," muttered Sakura, noting the extra height this gave her.
The tyrannosaur nodded, then began moving forward cautiously.
"Good," said Sasuke as they rejoined him. "Stay there, Sakura. We've got a plan."
"You've got a plan that involves a samurai dinosaur named Fluffy?" asked Sakura, who reflected that if you'd asked her a week ago about this very situation she would have wondered what sort of drugs were involved.
The White Fox dropped down nearby. "He's still avoiding the soldiers. Time to put the second part of the operation into place."
"Those 'seabees' aren't going to catch him," said Sasuke, holding out an empty hand. "Sword."
A sword faded out of thin air, Sasuke closed that hand before it could drop.
"They're not to catch him," said Naruto, his tail swishing behind him as he spoke. "Though if they got some of that paralytic poison in him, it might help."
"Uhm," said Sakura.
The two masks oriented on her, one in white and the other a dark blue bordering on black.
"Do I get any of that?" asked Sakura.
"I'd have to take measurements, get an impression of your chakra signature, and adjust what I had ready for you back in the Academy," said the White Fox.
"Ah," said Sakura, not leaving her perch atop the armored dinosaur.
"Easy Squadron! What are you aiming at?!"
"Every time we get a lock on, Sarge, he turns into a log!"
"That be the Substitution Jutsu, aka Kawarimi," said the Sergeant Hornet. "We need to cut off his mo-bility in order to cut off that tactic."
"Sarge, if we kill the target, how is that going to get the target to accept our Captain as his student?"
"It's a ninja thing, Private. Just use the paralytics. It may cause permanent impo-tence as a side-effect, but that's only a remote chance."
"Sarge? Did that bush o'er there just say 'to hell with that' and start running away?"
"Dangnabit! After that bush!"
"Sarge? Is this..."
"Yes, soldier. This is part of the plan. Now quiet and after him."
Kakashi appeared within five yards of their position. With all three (four if you counted Fluffy) standing where their backs were to a common hub and facing outward, his approach didn't go unnoticed.
"Rotate and fire, clockwise," suggested Sasuke, sending explosive-tagged kunai towards their sensei.
