Mischief Fragment Shippuden: Inscribing [Episode 259318]

"Okay, and done," said the Herbalism instructor, her hand briefly glowing.

"I see," said Jiraiya. "Just a moment." BOMF BOMF

"Yo, Jiraiya," said a very large toad. "What's up? Heard you was training the kid."

"I am," said Jiraiya, briefly weighing some coins in his hand before handing them to the night elf woman. "My two associates here could use the same skill."

"It won't work," said the night elf confidently, making the same gestures and then holding up a glowing hand.

"Whoa. That's handy," said Gamakichi.

"It... worked?!" indicated the night elf trainer, looking almost as if she'd just gotten punched in the gut from the level of shock she was displaying.

"Interesting," said Kosuke, the red and black toad looking around himself.

"You two help me gather, then I'll work on my other skill," said Jiraiya.

"Other skill?" asked Gamakichi.

"I've already visited the Inscription trainer," said Jiraiya. "This should be most interesting."

"So those are the benefits of joining my guild," said Dekthena, continuing the pitch she'd started as soon as she'd run across Jiraiya. "As you know, I'm an Arcane specialist Mage by class. My professions are Herbalism and Alchemy. I was planning on working on those today in fact, but someone's gone through Elwynn Forest and most of the surrounding regions - everything ready to be picked today has been gathered up."

"Ah, imagine that," said Jiraiya as innocently as he could.

"So what have you chosen, Ninja-Caster?" asked Dekthena.

"Herbalism and Inscription," said Jiraiya, rummaging in his pack briefly. "Oh, could you use this?"

"A Glyph Of Crittermorph?" asked Dekthena. "This is fairly advanced, how did you get it?"

"Made it about five minutes ago," said Jiraiya.

"You," said Dekthena, the draenei pausing and staring at the human briefly. "You learned a profession today and you're already an expert? How?"

Jiraiya began covering the table in glyphs, Enchanting Vellum, and four Tomes. "I've been busy."

"So you have," noted Dekthena. "Our guild can certainly make use of these, and we can get some trading going on. Let's see."

"How did he even learn 'Glyph Of Crittermorph'? I've been doing this for over a year and I don't know how to do that one!"

"As soon as he learns a new one, he practices it by making ten, then he moves on to the next one. What I want to know is how that Hunter got more than one pet out and has them doing his gathering for him."

"Look at his class, he's a 'Ninja' not a 'Hunter' - whatever that is."

"He's donated enough to the bank. Want to give him full access? He got dibs on a wand in there."

"Which one?"

"Yes?" asked the enchanting supplier.

"I want to learn how to use a wand," said Jiraiya.

"Ah, you came because I'm an expert in wands," said the supplier, an elderly human. "Unfortunately, the knowledge of how to USE a wand is not in my field. In my experience, one can either use a wand or one cannot. It is not something that can be taught but is rather innate."

"Ah, well, then," said Jiraiya, putting something on the counter. "What can you tell me about this?"

"It's... pink," said the Enchanter, sounding somewhat disgusted.

"It certainly is," noted Jiraiya. "However, I was hoping for rather more information."

"Let's see then," said the Enchanter, fitting an odd device over one eye. "Hmmm. Pandarean rosewood, kodo heartstring and air elemental essence for the core, eleven inches, somewhat springy. Channels nature energy into..."

Jiraiya waited as the old man frowned, adjusted dials on his eyepiece, stared again, then took off the odd device in order to turn a puzzled look at the wand.

"That can't be right," said the Enchanter.

"Oh?" asked Jiraiya hopefully.

"Why would you, or anyone for that matter, want a wand the only purpose of which is to gather nature energy for such a modest replenishment of mana?"

"Why indeed?" asked Jiraiya with a grin.

The Enchanter stared at the ninja briefly, trying to make heads-or-tails out of the strange wizard.

"Wait, these are summons?" asked Naruto, staring.

"Well, och, aye," said the dwarf Priest. "The wee bairns be what they call battler-pets. The mounts also be a summons. From what I be seeing, I think it's somewhat like yer 'shadow clones' innit be a copy o' the raal thin which be elsewahr."

"Mounts?" asked Naruto.

The dwarf woman nodded, stepped well away from the doorway, then made a gesture. In a puff of smoke similar to his shadow clone, a large white ram outfitted with a saddle appeared that she was now riding.

"Whoa," said Naruto. He was a ninja, he ran or jumped to get anywhere. Didn't mean he didn't think it was neat.

The dwarf woman nodded and got out of the saddle. As soon as she did, the ram vanished. She followed by making the same gesture and the horse was replaced by one of the 'griffons' he'd seen flying overhead regularly.

Naruto blinked. "Everyone can do that?"

"No," said the dwarf. "Most people - aye. Or they can learn the trick of it and it's allowed by the various trainers. Goot to be the right level of reputation an' such though."

Naruto looked around the intersection. One of the locals, a "worgen" he'd learned they were called, was going by some merchant's cart on a two-wheeled device that made a loud noise. A white dragon of some kind and his rider passed overhead, flanked by two griffons. That gnome who'd chased him much earlier had just done some sort of summoning and made a horse with fire hooves appear. A more normal-looking green and gold dragon with a rider hovered way far overhead.

"I SO want to learn that," realized Naruto.

"In many ways, Inscription is one of the hardest professions in that you don't really get the same benefits out of it the way other professions do," said the instructor. "An Alchemist always has healing and mana potions on hand. Jewelcrafting provides trinkets and rings and necklaces that can provide a direct benefit to the crafter. Blacksmithing gives you weapons and armor. Enchanters can put additional benefits into just about anything they carry with them."

Jiraiya shrugged. "I've been trading things. Those Enchanting Vellum to the priests and mages who mostly do Enchanting work. That's how I got these little 'perks' on my outfits. Alchemy uses the same herbs, so trading my extras for healing potions has worked out pretty good. As for the jewelry - I've run across a few things while out gathering."

"Oh?" asked the Inscription instructor, Catarina Stanford of Stormwind.

Jiraiya held up a hand, showing a simple ring adorning one finger.

Engraved Ring Of The Bandit

"Not bad," admitted Catarina. "Simple in appearance, but fairly effective."

Jiraiya did a half-shrug. "I've found Inscription to actually be fairly easy. Ah, I just got 'pinged' by someone in my guild."

"Dungeon?" asked Catarina as her customer began fading away.

"Yes, apparently I have to 'power level' to get access to better herbs," said Jiraiya before vanishing.

"So, I can do this while staying around Stormwind or Goldshire?" asked Naruto. "YEAH!"

"Okay, let's set you up for Pet Battles," said the trainer. "Let's see, you'll need one to start."

"Got one!" said Naruto.

"Oh?" asked the trainer. "How did you manage that?"

A young medic-in-training spoke up. "I was attempting to change his bandages when he leapt up, jumped out the window screaming, charged across the field, and managed to knock out three bandits and a bear. I don't know HOW he got a Battle Pet out of it, but he did."

Marcus Jensen, Goldshire trainer and acquirer of pets, stared at the young draenei for a moment. "What exactly were you doing to make the boy run off like that?"

"Kierahl hentai," mumbled Naruto.

"Just what comes natural for teenage human boys," said Kierahl.

"And you know about teenage human boys how?" asked Marcus.

"I've overheard them talking," said Kierahl, completely serious as far as anyone could tell.

Marcus suppressed a groan. "And where did you hear this?"

"Behind the stables in Old Town in Stormwind," said Kierahl.

"I see," said Marcus. "You might want to take what they said with a grain of salt."

"You're the second person to tell me that," said Kierahl, fumbling in her belt and pulling a salt shaker out. "However I do not see the relevance. Perhaps I am using the wrong kind of salt?"

Marcus was quiet for a moment. "You wouldn't happen to have spent all your time over in Azuremyst would you?"

"Well, yes," admitted Kierahl. "Though I have also studied in Teldrassil."

"And your experience with human boys would be entirely recent?" asked Marcus.

"But I have studied human anatomy and the differences between the species," noted Kierahl. "There are similarities as well. Is there a problem?"

"Not my problem, not my specialty, not going there," decided Marcus. "Okay, so what's his starting pokay... I mean Battle Pet?" He fully expected a Rabbit or a Squirrel perhaps. Instead, what Naruto produced was:
