Ranma found herself laying in Akane’s bed with the slightly larger tomboy hugging her somewhat possessively from behind. It took a little effort to peel her hands from her torso, the tomboy using her usual brute force to instinctively maintain a surprisingly gentle hold on the petite red-head.
Finally getting out of bed, she stared for a moment at the pajamas she was wearing. A suspicious peak underneath revealed she was wearing panties as well, all the clothing belonging to Akane.
Glancing back at the bed where Akane started to toss and turn a bit, a disturbingly sore sensation between her thighs kept her from thinking of this situation in a warm and fuzzy way as sort of cute. It was like somehow Akane had taken the place of Kuno in those old nightmares and it had taken a particularly perverse twist from there.
A visit to the bath was disturbingly familiar. The torn remnants of her shirt and Kodachi’s black panties. Splatters of drying male fluids in several places. The bit of blood from where she lost her virginity. The bath water was lukewarm and murky, not something she wanted to try.
Two buckets were suspiciously set up off to the side, the one clue Ranma hadn’t known about beforehand.
She stripped out of the clothes she’d been dressed in and filled another bucket with fresh hot water. Other than making her feel a bit cleaner, little else changed, the sore ache between her legs increasing from her squatting position.
It was a nightmare, but she wasn’t waking up.
Early in the morning, her housecoat tight against the chill, Kasumi came upon an odd sight.
Ranma was sitting in the family room, books and papers spread about on the table top. Spirit talismans, some freshly inked, scrolls and old tomes indicated this was magical research. The darkness around Ranma’s eyes and pot of tea implied a lack of sleep, which meant it was emergency research.
Taking a seat, Kasumi checked the pot to see if Ranma might need more tea, one of the few things she could do to help. “Ranma-kun, is something wrong?”
Ranma glanced at the older girl for a moment, Kasumi being the only one in the house that wouldn’t make fun of her studying or doing research. The older girl would even help arrange the study sessions and if it was a topic she was familiar with, help. Even if she wasn’t familiar, Kasumi liked to listen. “So, do you know how the Musk use the girl spring to breed animal traits into their tribe?”
Kasumi considered the question and had to guess this research wasn’t about anything pleasant. “I’ve heard of it, but not how it actually works.”
Ranma nodded patiently, Kasumi was good for discussions. “You do know that women are born with all their eggs, lose some with each period and go into menopause when they run out of eggs, right?”
Kasumi nodded her head as biology was a familiar subject for her. “Yes. That’s the basic simplified version of the process of ovulation.”
Ranma tapped a talisman, although Kasumi had no idea what it meant. “That’s basically how it works, turn a female monkey into a girl, then she’s a girl with mostly monkey ovum. That’s why it needs to be a female animal and boys cursed at Jusenkyou won’t have periods or get pregnant. Just empty ovaries using a guy.”
Kasumi nodded along, as that was one bright spot, at least for Ranma.
The petite red-head continued however, giving Kasumi a clue where the dark clouds were on this subject. “The Musk are perverse freaks though, so they figured out how to get past that too. Before they had the locking ladle for mass bride creation, they had to use potions. For guys they had an enhanced potion to turn the victim into a woman.”
Kasumi had a sinking feeling where this was going. Ranma tended not to loiter around the house in female form, especially not since living with Nodoka. The whole locking ladle mess was an unpleasant memory for her, particularly due to her father’s offer to marry female Ranma.
Ranma saw her apprehensive look and continued. “Mousse somehow got that potion and gave it to Shanpu and me. Cologne left with Shanpu to find a cure before she got stuck as a cat. I had a rough time making it home last night, but I thought I was safe once I got in the bath.”
No, Kasumi did not like where this was going. At least the fathers were out looking at potential future house locations for the Saotome family.
“Seems Nabiki and Akane were playing with instant Jusenkyou water in the bath to be part boy. Akane’s form was enough to trigger the lust part of my potion, which she seemed happy to take advantage of.”
Ranma tapped two talismans, one having male and female ink symbols, the other having an additional third ink blob. “They used two buckets, one had a third ingredient I haven’t identified yet. That might explain why Akane was acting strange, so I won’t blame her completely.”
Seeing Kasumi’s look of growing horror and disbelief, Ranma tried to move the topic along to something less personal. “The potion locks the curse, but not permanently unless a guy takes advantage of the girl. If it’s someone she has feelings for though, the lust part kicks in, and if that happens... then she becomes a woman completely and can get pregnant.” Ranma realized what she’d said and was quick to clarify an important point to her. “Not to worry though, because of girls like Kodachi I’ve kept medicine on hand for that, so I shouldn’t be pregnant. That would be awkward.”
Ranma’s explanation wasn’t really having a calming effect on Kasumi, although that was mostly the situation’s fault. “Well, anyways, there’s a mess in the bathroom, but I got all the evidence I need from there, so you can go ahead and clean it all up.”
Eager to do something else, anything, Kasumi numbly moved off towards the bath. She didn’t stay long however as she rapidly realized she wasn’t ready to deal with the evidence of what she’d just heard.
Instead she returned to Ranma and started stacking her books. “Get your things together Ranma-kun. You need to get some rest.”
The haunted look Ranma gave her made her realize why Ranma was researching instead of sleeping. “In my bed. No one will bother you there. Akane and Nabiki will be off to school by the time you get up, then we can figure things out... but you need to sleep.”
Ranma was embarrassed but compliant, letting her know she’d guessed correctly. Soon they were in her room, Ranma’s materials piled on her desk, the petite red-head tucked into her bed. Not in any hurry to take care of the bathroom, Kasumi sat on her bed waiting to see if Ranma could nod off to sleep.
While she was waiting, there was one thing she had to ask even though Ranma had tried avoiding outright saying it. “You can’t turn back into a boy?”
The red-head was obviously still trying to deal with it herself. “No, it’s like I was born a girl now, except I still have enough girl curse to mess with a cure.”
Kasumi nodded, knowing roughly what she’d have to do now. If her sisters were going to play at being boys, then they’d have to take responsibility too. She’d have to give Ranma a little silver lining at least. “Well, if that’s the case, there should be nothing improper about sleeping in bed with me for now. I’ll make sure to set up a study area for you too.”
