Lamp Of Mihoshi: Lucky Dog [Episode 260685]

by Valor Phoenix

Ranma’s new wealth fortune extended back into the past a bit.

Ukyou had first noticed that after her Ranchan visited and she served him some free eats, business picked up afterwards. Since he visited her at somewhat random intervals, it was a rather noticeable thing.

Feeling good about her success in business as she might soon afford to take some days off to go on dates, Ukyou had served Ranma her finest fair. Her okonomiyaki was fairly affordable, but she’d given him her finest ingredients, wanting to try her hand at nicer food.

Afterwards she’d gotten an even bigger uptick in business after treating him to her best.

The pattern held on his following visits, the more she treated him the better her business got for a while afterwards. The problem with testing the limits of this theory was that she was already stretching the limits of her food on quality.

So she gave him an envelope of money as a gift. She’d told him it was to prove she’d make a good wife, that she was a successful woman and could support him.

It worked just the same as treating him to food, her business improved for a few days afterwards and she made the money back with interest.

In the present she was giving her Ranchan regular payments under her excuse, having found through experimentation that there was an upper limit to how much business she could really handle. Going over that limit wasn’t all bad however, as the good luck served as a sort of insurance against misfortune. Ryoga smashing up her restaurant one day led to it getting improvements the next day, resulting in a net gain for her.

From what she’d gathered as a businesswoman, several other businesses had noticed this as well. Nerima was a fairly spiritual district, so Ranma’s luck didn’t go unnoticed easily.

There were a few other incidents she was aware of with Ranma’s new fortune as he’d won a few prizes in contests. One had been a pair of tickets for a hot spring vacation. As a result they had naturally fought over the tickets until Nabiki played referee and outright stole the ticket.

Annoyed, Ranma had sold his ticket instead of going with Nabiki, managing to get several times its value from someone desperate to get the ticket.

The story didn’t end there however. Nabiki ended up having a miserable time as the resort was apparently being rush booked by a bunch of businessmen that ended up ruining it for her. Worse she ended up somehow bringing down a bunch of sudden expenses upon her family, enough so that they’d been humiliated into borrowing money from Ranma.

From what she’d gathered from overhearing Akane in class, the combination of Ranma’s luck and their misfortune seemed to make them think Ranma was bad luck.

Having an outside perspective, Ukyou could see that Nabiki’s stealing the ticket had been the cause of her bad luck. The irony should have been obvious since the money they borrowed was what Ranma made from selling his ticket, an almost perfect symmetry of luck.

If things continued like this, the situation would swing into her favor. She was gaining favor with Ranma while the Tendo family seemed to be slowly pushing him away.

Unknown to her, Ranma had made some investments simply as a way to put his money some place where it couldn’t be so easily stolen. Carrying around a bunch of cash with the people he knew was just asking for trouble. Those investments would be paying off for Ranma.

Furthermore, those successful investments would draw the attention of wealthy families that had daughters of Ranma’s age, bringing some more love troubles into Ranma’s life.
