She had come home early to find that her daughter and her friends were over at that Hino shrine. Well, it had been some time since she'd been to a temple and one of her patients had requested a charm for upcoming exams. Besides, she had some suspicions that perhaps her daughter had decided to give up on boys and that she had been sneaking off at night to be with her friends. Unexpectedly showing up might let a poor overworked mother put that particular worry to rest.
Except that she'd shown up, there had been no one present at the shrine, and she'd gone looking to see if things were as she had feared. Tsk. If her daughter was a lesbian, well that was fine. Kind of cut down on the grandkids and she'd be worried that her own lack of boyfriends/paramours had unduly influenced her daughter. Oh well.
Doctor Mizuno had walked in to find that there were two boys, five girls, together in the "study group." One boy was clearly unconscious, the other was holding hands with one of the girls.
Ami was apparently checking the boy's pulse when she noticed her mother present. And she had her hands on a cute boy. Oh dear. (Heavy blush.)
Doctor Mizuno kept a professional detachment. Her daughter was blushing heavily and had her hands on an unconscious boy? Things weren't quite as bad off as she had thought.
"Mother?!"
"I got off early and wanted to see if you wanted to go shopping," said the Doctor. "Is there anything you want to tell me?"
"I... that is..." Even heavier blush and panic from Ami.
Doctor Mizuno decided this was indeed promising.
"It's uh uh uh uh," said the blonde with two pigtails.
"He was going to the shrine and he, uh, fainted!" said the girl in the Shinto robes who didn't look so well herself.
"He hit his head on the doorway!" suggested the blonde with a bow.
"Maybe he fainted and hit his head on the doorway?" asked the tall girl.
The doctor considered a way that might tell her right off if she was correct. "Daughter, is this your boyfriend?"
Looking like she was going to faint and rapidly perspiring now, Ami might well have been wearing a sign that read [Guilty As Charged] as far as her mother was concerned.
"I- I- I- don't have time for such things," stuttered Ami as she ducked her head.
"No. He's my boyfriend!" "That's actually *my* boyfriend." "Ami doesn't even like boys." "Didn't Ami tell you about my boyfriend?"
Kumori Mizuno raised an eyebrow at all the simultaneous babble.
"Ung," said the boy on the bed. Or something like that.
