"Water Release: Water Wall," countered one of the pirates.
Three pirates fell with the remaining missiles hitting the wall of water and fading out.
"Hah," said the water-user. "Your fire techniques are no match for my water, especially here on the dock!"
"Source of all power,
Raging thunder from the sky,
Gather now and grant me power.
DIGU VOLTO!"
Lightning flared, hitting the water and the remaining three pirates.
Naruto stood there for a moment after the water wall had collapsed and the water-wielder gradually raised himself to his elbows.
"Y-you haven't won," said the water-wielder.
"So, I beat you guys, that means you work for me now, right?" asked Naruto.
"W-what?" asked the water-wielder.
"Actually, that's right," said one of the bigger guys. "That's how we got our last boss."
"Wait," said the water-nin.
"Great!" said Naruto. "This'll be cool."
She wasn't an Inuzuka, but she managed to be a pretty good tracker despite that.
"Yes, I saw him," said the waitress, handing the picture back. "Naruto Uzumaki. Said he was a wandering hero. He left about four hours ago."
"Thank you," said Aogera. "Did you see which direction he went?"
"Why do you want him anyway?" asked the waitress, looking over the two obvious kunoichi.
"He is originally from our village, and there were circumstances regarding his leaving that require his testimony," said Aogera.
"So you want him to fill out paperwork or something?" asked the waitress.
"He has to return to the village to give testimony regarding a traitor," said Squirrel, though she'd been silent and observing things up until that point.
"Ah, well he went that way," said Yui, pointing.
"That's the ocean," noted Squirrel.
"Yes," said Yui.
"He's on a ship?" asked Aogera. If he was flying, that would be a problem.
"Yes, he defeated a bunch of pirates, took their ship, and set off in search of new ramen," said Yui. "At least I think he said ramen. We had the early dinner crowd coming in at that point and things got a little loud."
"He defeated pirates and took their ship," said Aogera. "A twelve year old."
"Who has some pretty impressive ninja abilities for someone who isn't a ninja," admitted Yui. "I saw him use fuuinjutsu to turn someone into a sheep."
"A sheep?" asked Aogera.
"He turned the guy back into a human before he left," said Yui. "Seems like a good kid. At least it wasn't a newt."
"Thank you," said Aogera, placing a single coin on the counter. "Do you happen to know the name of the vessel?"
"So," said Aogera, looking out at the water. "Any good at tracking over water?"
"No. You?" asked Squirrel.
"Nope."
The two ANBU considered the waves splashing up against the docks briefly.
"Flip a coin?" asked Squirrel.
"How about we go over a map first," said Aogera. "If Uzumaki is styling himself a 'Wandering Hero' maybe something will suggest itself."
"Where to, boss?" asked Captain Dolza, idly scratching his butt. He'd seen the lightning, arrows of fire, and just figured the kid was a chunin or jonin probably operating under clandestine orders to accomplish missions that couldn't be tracked back to his actual village.
It was sneaky. Ninja liked sneaky.
"Where is villainy that needs to be stopped, or princesses to rescue, or something suitable for a Wandering Hero who's just starting out?" asked Naruto.
"Hmm, might want to hold off on the princesses," said the Captain, playing along. He figured the chunin was probably going to establish a presence for future operations. "You want something flashy, I take it?"
Naruto turned a large grin on the grizzled old Captain. "Yeah. That sounds ideal."
"Well," said the Captain thoughtfully. Honestly, he didn't care. He'd started out a merchant, become a pirate when his business had been forced out of business, taken over by another pirate who kept the name of the gang, and his main motivation right now was keeping his ship afloat and crew paid. "I might perhaps have overheard a rumor or two. How about this."
