Several days after the "initiation," as Asrial would later call it, the group were traveling towards a remote outpost inside the borders of the Amethyst League. After discovering from Gina that they were near a small area controlled by the Dark League, Ranma made the decision that the group should head north and west to learn more about the Diggers involvement with the Sextome clan. It grated his nerves that they were somehow kidnapped, and some of the pokegirls needed the closure to be found from their parents. It didn't hurt the decision at all to know that their parents would be able to answer so many questions he had about this world and it's inhabitants. The decision led to Asrial hiding her ship, and a quick, far too quick for the Diggers' taste, trip to town for supplies. After this was done, the group headed northwest.
It was evening now in a dense wooded area, and the stars were high in the night sky. About a mile from camp, Ranma stood in utter silence allowing Jetta, in her full wolf form, sniff about for their quarry. Uncharacteristically, Ranma held a wooden bow for hunting. While Ranma normally preferred hand-to-hand combat, he wanted to finish the hunting quickly; well, at least before his stomach started giving him and his hunting partner away.
After several long moments of stillness, Jetta started waving her head eastward, and the two slowly paced away another quarter of a mile before locating a buck. While many of the world's animal life dissapeared long ago, there was at least some hunting left. A good thing too, as they were far from any civilization, and wanted to keep away from the public eye. Sextome, was apparantly a little more highly known that Ranma liked.
Adding more wood to the campfire a few kilometers back, Brittany asked Asrial what she was doing. Brittany, knew a bit about some of the gadgets around, but Asrial was fooling with something she hadn't seen before.
"I'm working on a temporary fix for Ranma's curse," Asrial said quietly without emotion. Her mind was fully into her tinkering, and she was having trouble speaking. Whether the invention was that difficult, or she was still embarrased about earlier in the evening--even she didn't know.
Brittany, with as much empathy as ever, asked, "You're still upset about trying to tame our master while he was in his girl-form, arent you?"
Suddenly losing her grip on the device, she said, "I.. I don't know what you're talking about!" Fumbling a bit more to secure the item in her hands, she furthered her point, "I'm just trying to get the hot-water sprayer to disperse the water based on a change in a change in detectable mass."
"It's okay Asrial, you didn't know he was that uncomfortable with his girl-half," the pokegirl supplied. "Poor master," thought Brittany, "She must think Ranma is as scared of her like she is of the perverts from the Dark League."
Without a sound the arrow struck the deer square in the neck, falling the animal immediately. "Good work, master!" exclaimed Jetta, happy to be part of her master's little excursion. While she would hide the fact from others, she loved the hunt, and her master was so good at it!
"Eheheh, thanks, Jetta," Ranma replied, as he began to lift the buck from the ground to carry it back to the camp.
Jetta, however, was really happy! "Master, you are good at hunting! This was so much fun, can we do it again?" she asked.
Ranma never realized how simple things made Jetta happy, so he answered, "When I go hunting, Jetta, you are always invited. Your sense of smell made it go a lot faster." Ranma, while not terribly skilled at giving credit, found that the pokegirls thrived on a little praise. Ranma began to wonder if they needed that as much as the training.
Making their way back to camp, Jetta interrupted Ranma's thoughts by asking, "Master, you know.. Uhm.. You haven't tamed me in the personal way yet. Uhm, you know... Could you.. Uhm.. Did I do good enough to deserve 'special attention' yet master?"
Stopping to look over at the pokegirl, Ranma smiled, "You deserved it for just being you, Jetta." Then he blushed, "I kinda like it, ya' know. Feeling needed and stuff. We do need to eat.. Do you think you can wait?"
Entering the camp, Ranma and Jetta heard a loudly proclaimed, "Eureka! I have done it!"
