"Uh... Sorry 'bout that..." Ranma said as he hopped off the man. Getting a good look at him, he realized the man was huge! He looked like someone had crossed a gorilla with a bear, and then put the result in a suit.
Raizo blinked at the boy. A boy in a red, Chinese shirt and had his hair in a pigtail... and he just reeked of hidden power. "Let me guess," Raizo said at length. "You're Ranma Saotome."
Ranma nodded and tensed himself. Great, probably another loony challenger. "So who are you, an' what do you want? My old man promise me to your daughter or run out on a bill?"
Raizo smirked. "No. I merely made sure to be read up regarding the more... visible students at my new school. Your name was at the top of that list."
Ranma looked confused for a moment, and then he got it. With a wince, he said, "You're the new principal, aint'cha?"
"Yes. I am. I see you need to work on your grammar and dictation... not to mention getting a uniform."
Ranma winced again. School hadn't even started yet, and he already got on the new principal's bad side.
Then Raizo surprised him. "In the future, you should watch where you are going... but since I was lost in thought this time as well, we'll both just ignore this, shall we?"
"Ah... sure."
"Then let's get to school. Don't want to be late!"

After watching the new principal move, and engaging in some small talk, Ranma came to the following conclusions: first, that Principal Imawano was a powerful fighter, probably just as strong as he looked, and much faster; second, that he was going to be a harsh disciplinarian; and third... that he didn't seem to hold whatever file he read about Ranma against him. That last one was what gave Ranma a glimmer of hope.
But then they came to the gates of Furinkan... and met the resident Village Idiot.
"I say to thee HOLD!" Tatewaki Kuno proclaimed, pointing his boken at Raizo. "So, you are the Usurper that stole the leadership of Furinkan from mine father! While I have longed to see that man deposed myself, you dare presume that any but a noble Kuno may sit upon the throne of Furinkan?" Then he noticed Ranma. "Ah! I see! You are not but a beast, given the form of a man by the sorcery of the Vile Saotome! Fear not! I shall depose your master and return you to your true form!" He readied his boken and charged at Ranma.
Ranma sighed, but never got the chance to defend himself. Raizo acted first. He reached over and picked up Kuno by the back of his hakama. With his other hand, he pulled the boken away from Kuno, and snapped it in two. Lifting Kuno up to eye level, Raizo looked right at him, then growled out, "You are not allowed to carry weapons outside of kendo class. There will be no fighting on school grounds. Is. This. Clear?!"
Kuno was staring wide-eyed at the man holding him aloft. His only answer to Raizo's question was a small whimper, and a stain traveling down his pants.
Raizo set him down. "Go get cleaned up, and then get to class."
Kuno nodded, and then passes out.
Raizo sighed, and picked the boy up again. "You should get to class, Mr. Saotome."
Ranma realized he'd been staring, and made his own way into the school. Someone had actually cut through Kuno's delusions and frightened him? Amazing!
This was going to be interesting...
