"How does this benefit Naruto?" asked the Being.
"How does being a girl benefit Naruto?" countered Sakura.
"Top kunoichi. Therefore skilled."
Female Naruto grumbled something.
"Hmmm. Good point."
"It was?" asked Naruto, surprised. She bit back a yelp as suddenly things changed again and she was a he.
"Did you just take back my wish?" asked Sasuke.
"No. The retroactivity was taken away. It's now an event in your near future through another mechanism."
Sakura was thinking rapidly, trying to come to terms with various factors, and gave voice to an idea. "So - Naruto per Sasuke's wish becomes 'top kunoichi' somehow. Stronger, faster, smarter?"
"Yes."
"I am NOT liking part of that," stated Naruto.
"So, would I need to wish for Naruto not to get together with Sasuke?" asked Sakura.
Sasuke made a gagging noise. Oddly enough, so did Naruto.
"Maybe. It wouldn't be amusing for me to micro-manage the details."
"Then I wish that Naruto doesn't become Sasuke's girlfriend," stated Sakura. "And it benefits Naruto because that would be a really BAD relationship."
The cosmic Being sighed. "Fine then. Last choice is yours, Naruto Uzumaki."
"Awesome jutsu?" asked Naruto.
"Very well. I'm afraid your memories of events are going to have to go. Though they may return in the future."
"What just happened?" asked Naruto, looking around the room.
Sakura lowered her fist. She'd just been about to smack Naruto for the book, but it DID feel like something had just happened that she'd somehow forgotten about.
"Hmph," hmphed Sasuke, frowning.
"Well, let me see if I can figure this out," said Naruto, his attention once again on the fuuinjutsu. "Just don't do anything to that section there where I left it unconnected."
"Like anyone's stupid enough to go doing something like THAT," protested Sakura.
The fuuinjutsu book by itself was a D-Class intervention. By itself, it would take quite some time to actually divert anything within Naruto's path.
However, in this case, things were going to begin altering rather quickly.
Toltiir watched. Kakashi eventually showed up and Naruto's answer was different.
"Yosh! My name is Naruto Uzumaki! I like ramen and training! I dislike how long it takes cup ramen to cook. My dream is to surpass the Hokage and have the people of this village acknowledge my existence!"
Not much of a difference. But at least there WAS a difference at that point.
Ah. The next day was when the major change he'd put in would actually make its debut.
