"Dang thing. Guess I need to go back to the Academy. I don't understand this though." Naruto considered that for a moment. "Clue - Sakura"?
"You gotta be kidding me. YES!" said Naruto.
There was the sound of a projector running and a flat image appeared of the village.
The image changed to the outside of the Konoha Police Station.
The image switched to a normal house.
The image switched to an Uchiha policeman looking in a trash bin. The image then switched to a thoroughly dead body which had two spears, forty-two kunai, and a sword protruding from his back.
"Wait," said Naruto. "An Uchiha? Sakura is -"
The image changed to a little girl playing with blocks, she looked up as a shadow passed over her.
Image of Sakura, lying sprawled out on a bridge, tear tracks from her eyes as she stares without seeing anything.
"I don't get that at all, but Sakura is Sasuke's sister?" asked Naruto. "And she's been training with me? We're actually friends?"
"Yeah?" asked Naruto.
"I didn't expect you to be knocked out that easy," said Sasuke, crossing his arms and looking disgusted.
"Why are you hanging upside down in a tree?" asked Naruto.
"You didn't think he was leaving us alone after knocking you out, did you?" asked Sasuke. "Now get my sister free."
"Sakura?" asked Naruto, looking around. "Where is she?"
"Buried and you KNOW how claustrophobic she is," said Sasuke. "I can wait."
"I don't," began Naruto, still not seeing her. Finally he spotted a section of ground where the grass was missing and started digging away at it with his hands.
Dirt scraped away until he found an airspace, which was when he suddenly found someone erupting from the ground and wrapping their arms and legs around him in a grip that made bones feel like they were stressed to nearly the breaking point.
"Troublesome," said Sasuke from his position.
Naruto became aware that this was Sakura, that Sakura was making little whining/gasping noises, and she was trembling. Also that he was on his back with Sakura still clutching him in a death-grip.
Rather than try to figure out this latest oddity in a string of odd, Naruto settled for making little soothing noises and stroking her hair.
A bell rang somewhere in the distance.
Slowly the death-grip loosened, the panicked breathing smoothed out, and the trembling eased.
Naruto made a note that Sakura REALLY didn't like being buried for some reason. Also that she was pretty strong.
"Much as I hate to disturb you," said Sasuke, a fair amount of sarcasm in his voice, "tied up here. Hanging from a tree. Also pretty sure we failed the test."
For a moment, the overwhelming pressure returned but then Sakura let him go. "Uhm. Right. Getting to that, little brother."
"Actually, if you'll recall, I'm the BIG brother," protested Sasuke.
"You're an inch shorter than me, little brother," said Sakura, winking at Naruto as she tried to dust herself off. Still looking a lot shaken, but trying to project confidence and a suitable-for-an-Uchiha attitude. "I'm also four months older."
"Hmph," said Sasuke, looking away.
"Hmph," said Sakura, also looking away.
"Well, all questions about who is the elder sibling put to the side," said Kakashi, appearing in a blur in mid-sentence, "one of you gets tied to a pole and no lunch. Any guesses?"
"You maybe should have used more ninjutsu, that IS your strength," said Sakura.
"Hnn," agreed Sasuke.
"Sasuke was tied to the pole," noted Naruto.
"Yes, I noticed," said Sasuke. "Nothing gets by you, does it?"
"Kinda sucks that we cut you down from a tree so you could be tied to a post," noted Sakura.
"Yes, I noticed," repeated Sasuke.
"Well, could be worse," began Naruto.
"Don't say it," said Sasuke. "If you say it, and it happens, I will forbid you from dating my sister."
"Who says you get any say in who I date?" asked Sakura.
"Why would I want to..." Naruto paused, then shut his mouth.
"So, two bento, and we can't feed Sasuke or we all fail," said Sakura.
"And we have to take another test this afternoon," said Naruto.
"Yeah, open up LITTLE brother," said Sakura, holding a piece of rice up between her chopsticks. "We need to pass or fail together. Family."
"Well, obviously," said Sasuke, chewing on the rice. "I need to be along to keep an eye on you. Otherwise you'll just kidnap poor Naruto and do something horrible to him."
"Like you and Ino?" asked Sakura with false-sweetness.
"Please, don't even hint that she's around," said Sasuke. "While I'm tied up? That would be bad. Very bad."
"True," admitted Sakura as Naruto tried to feed Sasuke some vegetables.
BAMF!
Suddenly there, and radiating an evil presence, Kakashi loomed over the three genin. Also casually blocked a reflexive kick from Sakura. "YOU GUYS!"
Naruto wondered briefly why he had a rubber duck in his hand, and what the heck he was preparing to do with it.
"Pass," finished Kakashi.
"Great," said Naruto, wondering what that all meant.
