“What are you wearing?” Sakura inquired in surprise, any thoughts of greeting her teammates flying out of her head at seeing the blonde girl’s clothes.
Naruko gave off a petulant frown. “Hey, my mom helped me pick them. Okay?”
That being said, the Uzumaki girl did look slightly uncomfortable with the change from her standard wardrobe. Instead of the bulky orange and black pants and jacket Naruko normally wore, she wore a tight black shirt and shorts which ended mid-thigh, both of which still held orange highlights.
Sakura noticed that the blonde girl was also adjusting her shoulders while trying to be inconspicuous and failing. The pink haired girl scowled as she eventually noticed that the blonde was more developed than her, despite only having been a girl a day.
“Come on, let’s go.” Sachiko directed her two companions, walking between them with her hands in the pockets of her standard off-white shorts.
Naruko quickly followed along, getting creeped out by the dark looks Sakura was still sending her way. Catching up to the Uchiha, she tried to strike up a conversation to pass the time while the walked. “Hey, hey! What do you think our new Sensei will be like?”
“I don’t know, Dobe.” Sachiko answered with a roll of her eyes. “None of us know anything about her.”
Naruko frowned. “I know that! But wouldn’t it be cool if she was some ultimate badass?! I mean, she does a lot of long range missions, right?”
“That doesn’t mean anything, though.” Sakura countered with a shake of her head. “We don’t know what she does on those missions. For all we know, they could be delivery missions or spying or protecting nobles… they could be anything!”
“Geeze… you guys sure know how to kill a mood, you know?” Naruko complained, jerking her head away from her two companions.
“Deal with it.” The Uchiha responded with a small smirk before enjoying the silence that followed.
Eventually, the three new Genin made it to the training ground indicated in Naruko’s diary. They were around ten minutes early but they were surprised to see someone else already there.
Further ahead underneath a tree, a scarlet haired, twenty-something woman sat in a relaxed position, her hair in a long braid running down over her right shoulder. As the Genin approached, they took in the dark, fire red dougi held closed by a black sash and obsidian cargo shorts she wore. As they got closer, they were finally able to the standard Konoha hitai-ate on her forehead through the scarlet bangs obscuring her face.
Blinking, Sakura lowly wondered to Sachiko, “Is she… sleeping?”
Sachiko didn’t even get to formulate a reply before Naruko approached the resting woman and loudly stated, “Hey, you shouldn’t be sleeping here lady.” Seeing no response from the woman, the blonde girl snorted in mild annoyance. “Come on and wake up! You gotta get going before our sensei shows up!” After another moment of no response, Naruko growled lightly and reached forward to shake the woman’s shoulder.
The blur of motion that happened next led to the blonde Genin planted face down in the grass with the offending arm held in a straight lock behind and above her by the previously sleeping woman.
“Didn’t anyone ever tell you it’s dangerous to mess with sleeping ninja, kid?” The redhead asked with a mildly amused tone, a matching small smile adorning her lips as she continued to hold onto the girl’s arm.
“Arg! Alright, sorry! Just let me go!” Naruko complained, not in any pain but definitely uncomfortable with her current situation.
The woman ignored the girl at her feet to glance up to the other two Genin. The black haired girl had a kunai ready and seemed willing to assist but the pink haired girl seemed to have been shocked to inactivity. “So, you’re the three runts I’ve got to turn into ninja.” She finally said, releasing Naruko’s arm, watching the blonde immediately roll away and return to her new teammates.
“And you’re Saotome Ranma, our Jounin-sensei.” Sachiko hazarded a guess at that statement.
“That’d be me.” The newly identified Ranma nodded with a smile, not disappointed with the girls but not impressed with them either.
