"Uhm. Sakura? I... don't want you to hate me." Naruto looked down at the ground rather than meet her eyes. "I found out something about myself. Something terrible."
With his eyes not focussed on Sakura, he was suddenly aware of Hinata's eyes flicking. She was faking being unconscious in order to avoid an embarassing situation? Well, that was kind of ninja in a way.
Sakura brought up a fist and bonked him on top of the head. "Idiot! Like I'm going to hate you because you failed the exam from overstudying?"
"That's not it," complained Naruto.
"Is it because of your parents?" asked Hinata before she realized she was still supposed to be acting unconscious. "Eep!"
"It's something the Hokage tells me is an S-Class secret. Something I can't tell anyone!" said Naruto.
"Well, that's not right!" declared Sakura. "How are we supposed to help you if we don't know what the problem is! Right, Hinata?"
"Right!" declared Hinata, standing up.
"Right!" declared a bush.
"Right," whispered a small potted plant.
Naruto blinked.
Sakura glared suspiciously at the bush. "Is that you, Ino? I thought you were after Sasuke."
"Plan B," said the bush.
"Well, go on," said Sakura haughtily. "Hinata. As clan heir you're up on the paperwork. What's the request for revealing a secret to concerned close friends of a problem that is causing emotional anguish to the secret holder?"
"Ninja Secret Disclosure Form 147-B, I think," said Hinata. "Though I'll have to check."
Naruto blinked again. "There's a form for that?"
"You've seen the Hokage's desk. You know how much paperwork there ends up being," said Sakura. "We can ask if nothing else what the conditions are for Naruto to tell us."
"Right," said Hinata.
"Right," said Ino-in-the-bush.
"Not YOU, fashion-girl," complained Sakura. "Kasumi? You're not really interested in him anyway are you?"
"Keeping the option open," said the plant.
"No, it'll just be me and Hinata since we're the only ones really interested," declared Sakura.
The Hokage facepalmed. "Naruto? It's up to you whom you tell any of your secrets to."
"Oh," said Naruto.
"Owl, can you remove Kasumi and Ayane from near the window? Oh good, they removed themselves. Children nowadays. In MY day we knew S-Class Secret meant secret." Hiruzen Sarutobi sighed, for a moment looking more stressed old man than Hokage. "While I am heartened that Naruto has some people so concerned for him, that you'd fill out official paperwork to stage an intervention is less welcome. Now there's a paper trail."
"That's good?" asked Sakura.
"That's bad," said Hiruzen Sarutobi.
"Uhm, anything I can do?" asked Naruto.
"Yes, actually, it does end up being your decision," noted the Hokage. "You can-"
