The last category was actually a side-branch of storage scrolls, the item was placed in Location A to store them with special fuuinjutsu written underneath the item. Open a matching scroll in Location B, channel chakra, and the item went from Location A to Location B.
Naruto experimented. He was not good with the science part of fuuinjutsu but excelled at the portion that was pure art. Things either looked "right" or did not.
Barriers were another thing one could do with fuuinjutsu.
Tenten had gotten ahold of books on fuuinjutsu. One of which had a name involved: Uzumaki.
THAT had been enough to renew Naruto's enthusiasm and cause him to recreate something that Mito Uzumaki had done decades previously.
Lightning tags. A blast tag that did not blow up, instead becoming a like amount of lightning nature chakra at the moment of activation. Thunder Activation Seal - Electrical Release, aka a taser tag by the notes.
Naruto loved them. You could tag someone with those and then the person tagged would flop all over the place. Tenten loved them, a kunai with a bit of wire could hit a target and release a loud zapping noise. Lee loved them as he could sink one into a target and leap away and watch as a jutsu went off.
Gai thought they were a bit cheap and theatric but allowed they might well have their uses.
Chakra draining tags were used by ANBU and similar sources for restraining prisoners. These too were something that found their way into Naruto's repertoire.
So when Tenten showed up with a new scroll, Naruto brightened at the possibility of learning a NEW fuuinjutsu he could experiment with.
"What the-" began Naruto on seeing the label. "'Financial Planning For Dummies'?"
"Interesting," said Gai, rubbing his chin thoughtfully as he turned his attention from Lee smashing a log to his other two genin. "Why that?"
"Your goal is to be Hokage," Tenten explained to Naruto. "You have to have at least some knowledge of a wide variety of things for that job. You have to be more than just a strong ninja. From what I've heard if that was your goal - the job would be ANBU Captain or ANBU Commander. The Hokage not only has to be strong, they have to know how to delegate and has to know enough about the subject to be able to delegate to the right people."
"This is true," said Maito Gai. "There are also missions where direct combat skills cannot be used. Negotiation and infiltration being examples. Knowledge of other subjects is of use. That said, I would prefer to build upon your direct combat skills first so as to allow you a better chance of surviving to make use of such skills."
"Yes, Gai-sensei," said Naruto, not at all put off by having to set the scroll aside.
"To that end, Tenten and Naruto - some sparring right now." Maito Gai frowned at Naruto's response, which was to pull a jo staff out of his side pouch.
"Ramen found this and got it to me last time I left a bowl of ramen for him," explained Naruto, handing the weapon over when Gai held out a hand for it.
"A Nyoibo staff," said Gai after examining it. "I haven't seen one in some time, but I can see where it will enormously useful for you. Yosh! I will demonstrate some techniques you can use with such a youthful weapon!"
"I know a few myself," said Tenten, pulling a tasselled spear out of a scroll. "Let's start then, the morning is wasting!"
"Yosh!" exclaimed Naruto, knowing their sensei appreciated enthusiasm.
