A little girl with a big hammer barely missed him as he twisted and rolled. The resulting crash put a hole through the roof.
"SHANNARO!"
Sakura attacked Sasuke's attacker, and was backhanded a good four meters away. The little girl didn't even glance at Sakura, apparently regarding her as a fly to be swatted.
"Bahamut! Set Up! Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu!" yelled Naruto from his own fight.
Sasuke leapt away from another strike, but the little girl's speed and manueverability was greater. So he predicted where she would be coming after him next and responded. "Fire Release! Great Fireball!"
The flames singed her clothing and that seemed to infuriate the little girl even further.
At which point Sasuke Uchiha learned you could be beaten very very severely and painfully but not allowed to go unconscious. That was before the girl produced a book and did something that finally caused him enough pain that he blacked out.
Zafira was the fierce guardian beast.
"Secure that one, I'll get this one," said Vita as she passed him in pursuit of the two runners.
One girl was looking one way and then another, clearly uncertain of what to do. The other girl and the other boy were running.
Vita would be able to catch them. Neither was that fast.
"Bahamut! Set Up!"
THAT caused Zafira to pause. The boy was still conscious and hadn't even activated his defenses until just now?
"Multiple Shadow Clone Jutsu!"
At which point a dozen copies of the same individual were rising up into the air and speeding in his direction.
Easily countered. "Steel Yoke!"
All but one of the pierced mage-copies flashed into smoke.
"Two palms!"
Light hits along his back? The girl? Zafira sent a backhanded blow to deal with the girl at this range.
She seemed to flow under it. Two more light hits. "Four palms!"
Zafira felt it then. His magic was failing? Her hits were disrupting his magic somehow.
He'd have to take her seriously after all. This technique should be added to the Book Of Darkness.
[Alert. Activating Emergency Protocol.]
Naruto, falling, in more pain than he'd ever been in his life, registered the words coming from the armored gauntlet on his right hand. What?
[Alert. Activating Emergency Protocol.]
That was coming from nearby.
There was a feeling of sudden movement with a blurring of his surroundings but he was already falling into unconsciousness at that point.
For a moment he fought off the darkness to see Hinata appear, already unconscious and looking battered.
Finally the darkness swept up over him. Except then he blinked his eyes open and was in a... sewer?
Naruto pushed himself up, looking around for the big guy or that little girl he'd glimpsed going after Sakura. No sign.
The armor and gauntlet had disappeared and he was back to wearing the bracer.
"What is this?" asked Naruto.
[Insufficient Data. Analyzing.]
"Huh?"
[I do not know, my Master.]
"You got cracks in you, you know that?" asked Naruto.
[Yes, my Master. Damage at thirty-seven percent. Request repairs at soonest opportunity.]
"Huh," said Naruto, leaning against a wall to keep himself from falling back down into whatever this water at his feet was. The water looked kind of dirty but it didn't SMELL like a sewer - so maybe it was just something like a storm drain?
He limped along like that for several minutes before he came across a huge chamber that was dominated by what looked like a prison wall.
"So my jailor finally deigns to visit me. I was going to threaten to eat you but I admit this is sufficiently different that I must instead ask a question."
Naruto took a step back, seeing the huge shape with huge red eyes moving in the shadows beyond the bars. "My, what big eyes you have."
"The better to glare at little whelps with."
Shadows flicked in annoyance.
Naruto noted the shadows and their placement. "Are those... ears? My, what big ears you have!"
"The better to hear you answer my question. Any time now."
Teeth gleamed whitely as the owner snarled at the speck in front of him.
"Those teeth! You must be..." said Naruto, taking a step backwards.
"The better to EAT you with. If you'd just step over here, I'll demonstrate."
"Nuh UH," indicated Naruto. "You must be..."
"Yes?"
"The energonic bunny!" said Naruto. "Where's your drum?"
CRASH!
There was a brief silence. "So that's what a face-fault feels like. NO, YOU BRAT! I AM THE KYUBI NO KITSUNE!"
"Oh," said Naruto. "I thought you'd be bigger."
"Can we get back to my question?"
[Analysis complete. Wording set for simple. Subject identified as Nine-Tailed Kitsune. Current location is a mental/spiritual construct. Give situational analysis?]
"If that means you can explain what's going on, hell yes," said Naruto.
"Finally."
[Yes, my Master.]
"We found all four of them, where they apparently were coming to the aid of Nanoha Takamichi."
"The four Devices are now bonded to them. Names are Bahamut, Ifrit, Alexander, and Titan. Titan is not damaged at all and never achieved full activation. The others show signs of activation, but Ifrit is only slightly damaged."
"Do we know more about the devices? Edna?"
Edna Mode adjusted her glasses. "Primitive devices, at least two hundred years out of date and thoroughly unfashionable darling. They're not even fully multifunctional! Bahamut is primarily geared towards Air Element spells. Ifrit is Fire, and Titan is Earth Element."
"What about that fourth one?"
Edna hmphed. "Alexander is primarily defensive in orientation with some relatively minor Enhancement, Sensor, and Healing Type abilities. It refers to itself as a Holy Type if you can believe that, darling. Of course, there is NO such thing."
"We were able to take three of the Devices away. Bahamut is still active and apparently using a mental communication mode with the wielder."
"Captain, I've gone over the security footage. It seems they were primarily trying to escape and have very little idea about what they doing or where they were. Further analysis of their private conversations indicate that they were here by accident."
"Well, it's not up to me and most of our resources and attention are going to have to be dealing with the Book Of Darkness as THAT is much more of a threat. Put them in -"
"Captain! One of the prisoners is awake and requesting someone named Ramen!"
