"YOU think it's awkward," said Sasuke, briefly trying to use a piece of lettuce as a loincloth. "Sakura's dead then?"
"Yes and no," said Naruto.
"How can she be dead and not?" asked Sasuke.
"This world is really weird," said Naruto. "She's haunting me."
"I am trapped in your head! Sasuke's there? Let me see!"
"I don't think Sasuke wants you to see him right now," complained Naruto.
"You're serious?" asked Sasuke.
"Oh here we go. And EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
Naruto clutched his ears, wincing, despite it being a telepathic communication.
"She just squealed didn't she?" asked Sasuke, covering himself with a pot lid. Somehow he believed Naruto at the moment.
"Yeah," said Naruto. "She saw you. What happened to your clothes anyway?"
"Turned into wood and put in the fire," said Sasuke. "That old woman had a paralysis jutsu of some kind. What happened to her?"
"Explosive tag, beat her with a frypan, fell against the stove, water splashed, she melted," said Naruto. "That big green and black puddle on the floor?"
"That's her?" asked Sasuke, eyes wide. He very carefully stepped OVER the puddle. "Okay. I'm going to see if she has any clothes put back from previous victims."
"Good luck," said Naruto sincerely. Because listening to Sakura babble in the background was kind of disheartening.
"Found some," said Sasuke in one of the other rooms after a few minutes of scavenging.
"Good," said Naruto.
A minute passed. Then two.
"What's taking so long?" asked Naruto finally.
"There's four outfits here and I'm reluctant to try any of them," confessed Sasuke.
Naruto finally just went ahead and joined Sasuke. Sure enough, he had four outfits laid out on a humongous bed.
"This was in a box under the bed," said Sasuke, pointing to the first outfit.
"I don't think it'd fit, either the old gal or you," said Naruto.
"Probably a victim," rationalized Sasuke, who did NOT want to picture the stooped and heavyset old woman who'd tried to bake him wearing THAT. As it was a leather outfit that would fit someone much more slender than the old woman, and taller as well, he was hoping it had been a victim. On the other hand, that leather looked like it would have some value as armor.
"That makes sense," said Naruto. "Probably the next two outfits too."
"Right," said Sasuke. The girl's dress and blouse combination WERE about the right size for him though.
"Maybe you could tie the inner stuff on this off," noted Naruto about the third outfit. What looked like adult guy's clothing, with armor and shield and sword and the belts and straps to put everything in place. It was all sized for not only an adult though - but a particularly big adult.
"Maybe," said Sasuke, not seeing HOW he could do that.
"The fourth outfit there..." noted Naruto. "That's weird."
"Some sort of religious observance?" tried Sasuke. "I've heard of the Spring Rabbit being a symbol of the Spring Equinox in some of the Western Territories."
"Sakura says we don't know a damn thing about the local populace," relayed Naruto. "Wearing it might offend the locals, or it might actually be something normally done."
"Right," said Sasuke, making a decision as he reached for one of the outfits. The reminder that a ghostly Sakura was ogling him was a definite factor in his speed.
