"Asuka, do you know where Rei lives?" He didn't wait for an answer, just told her.
Asuka consulted a mental map of the city, then went paler than normal. "Isn't that in... "
"Yeah," he sighed. "I'm sure the only reason she hasn't been put in the hospital or worse is her Section 2 detail." He shook his head. "I don't know why the Commander has her live there. I went there once, to take her homework and her new ID card to her, and there's nothing there. She's got a bed, a desk, I think there's a dresser, and that's it. She doesn't even have clothes except for school uniforms."
Asuka's jaw had slowly dropped during Shinji's recitation. "Leiber Gott im Himmel! No wonder she's so empty! No way I'm letting this stand. The Commander needs us way more than we need him, it's time we used that."
Shinji actually smiled at that. "So, what exactly do we do?"
Asuka stood, and start to pace while she thought. "Well, we can't do much about where she lives, Commander Ikari will just move her somewhere worse,
