"Interesting," Mambo Jack replied. "Right in the midst of the period that numerous planets were attempting to withdraw from the Galactic Republic, often thanks to the influence of Palpatine's agents."
"Indeed," Celeste confirmed. "Of course, his entire intention was to create a centralized military which could eventually be used to cement an Empire together, as well as setting the foundations for his so-called New Order."
"The Klingons are really going to mess up that plan. Unlike the Republic, they actually have an experienced Officers' Corps and an experienced fleet."
"So while the Republic is training its officers and learning the ins and outs of large-scale interstellar warfare the hard way, the Klingons will be encroaching on the worlds out towards the Hydian Way."
"Especially since they would likely recognize the Galactic Republic for what it truly is. A decadent and fading coalition of sovereign planets, and therefore of distantly secondary import. As for the Jedi, well, the Klingons are likely to turn to the Vulcans for an assessment of their philosophy."
Celeste snickered, "You know just how maddeningly illogical their concept that morality is fundamental to nature is. They, and the Betazeds, can certainly learn the techniques, but the philosophy is just too ridiculous to take seriously."
"That would certainly knock those arrogant twits on the Jedi Council down a few notchs."
"The interesting point will be whether or not the Federation gets pulled in. I can certainly see a number of secessionist worlds petitioning for membership."
"More than likely, in fact, that's practically guaranteed. And you know just how they're going to react to the clones."
"They'd end up using the super phase beam that their ships can channel through the main deflector to eliminate everyone on board those ships, once the shields have been brought down. The Federation does not recognize clones as being sentient entities."
With that, Celeste turned to a different screen. "In any case, that's another four score years down the road. Shall we see how the changes have altered the situation with regard to Akane's labour?"
