"So, the Klingons meet the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant," noted Mambo Jack.

"Of course," replied Celeste. "The latter is going to bear the brunt of that collision. They certainly won't last."

"I wonder how the New Republic will take the strain."

"Probably end up signing a mutual defense pact with the Federation. That would come in handy later. Especially since the Federation has much more experience maintaining a fleet in a democratic government."

With that, Celeste turned to a different screen. "In any case, that's another four score years down the road. Shall we see how the changes have altered the situation with regard to Akane's labour?"

• The labour is no longer viable.
• The labour has already been successfully completed.
• The labour has been changed radically.
