Ami had known this day would come.
It wasn't strictly accurate to call Mizuno Ami's other mother 'A Yuki Onna'. The main difficulty in this case was the simple matter of plurality. Ami was the daughter, not of 'an' ice spirit - but of *the* ice spirit - the first Yuki Onna, the Frozen Queen of the snow wastes of the Makai.
She herself had not been aware of this prior to becoming Sailor Mercury, but after that - well, when one had a supercomputer capable of analyzing gravity disturbances in the Antarctic and determining energy weaknesses of bizarre and possibly unique constructs, determining that one's own genetics weren't precisely human was childsplay - pun intended.
She'd kept the information strictly to herself, of course.
She had been a bit curious when she discovered - by the same means - that strictly speaking none of the Senshi were pure humans, but hadn't made much headway into her investigation. Information on the native Non-human population of earth was rather difficult to come by for a seemingly human girl genius and member of the scientific community - for some reason mystics didn't trust her, and of course, mother didn’t' want to talk about it, so she only knew her second parent's name; That however, been enough to identify the Snow Queen for what she was and make Ami curious about her comrades.
Upon determining that the only 'Human' member of their group was Setsuna (and Ami had never been certain about her due to temporal interference), Ami had predicted with a 74% probability that the day would come when the data would become public on it's own; The other Senshi were either merely bound to a mostly human form - like Minako, who's binding was more and more subsumed by her own power every day - or like Haruka, apparently unaware that they had another form.
Pale white skin glistening in the light of her room, and blue lips calmly pressed into a slight frown of concentration, the owner of the Mercury computer paid close attention to picking ice out of the keyboard, careful to leave only the bearest hint of frost there, to insure functionality.
Most of the rest of her room - short of the book-cases -was a write off. She'd managed to freeze it solid this morning, when her inheritance had finally made itself violently known.
Given that, she was fairly certain that what had happened last night was likely related to their..exotic..origins, and was less than surprised when a soft knock came on her window and Usagi's face (looking, Ami noted dispassionately, rather more seductive than Usagi was normally capable off), appeared in it, while trying somewhat unsuccessfully to hide the feathered wings growing out of her head. Ami put on her blandest expression at that and did not snicker as she pried the frosted over window open. (She wanted to. But not laughing at Usagi was something of a Life-skill for her in the last few years.)
The sharp 'crack!' of frozen over wood breaking free of it's imprisoning Ice was attention getting - but Usagi's imitation of a Popsicle as well-below freezing air spilled out onto her was even more so, especially considering the outfit she was bearly wearing. To Ami, it felt as if Usagi were so -warm-...not nearly as warm as Rei and Minako, however! Those two were pillars of scorching fire, and Ami retreated from her window quickly, whispering, "The others are burning, Usagi-sama. Please come in, but..could they please try not to be so warm?"
It took a bit of work, but in a moment or so, the three Senshi - Setsuna had vanished to place her chosen Tree at the Time Gate and would be back shortly - were settled in Ami's frozen over bedroom, and starring at the girl genius.
When the surges of power from last night had begun awakening Ami's own Darkstalker heritage, they had done so far more slowly than Minako's own dramatic transformation, but that hadn't made the change any less dramatic; It had simply taken longer to show up, exploding through her body when she failed -again - to locate the other three's energy signature in Tokyo, Japan..on planet earth.
In that moment, the temperature of the air nearest her skin had approached absolute zero, and the resulting frost wave had flashfrozen all moisture in her room, and liquefied several cubic feet of atmosphere; It had also added a good two inches to the delicately boned girl's height, and put very slightly more curve in her body than before;
Her normally blue-black hair, lips and skin were more dramatically changed - Her hair had grown out past her waist, firstly, and was now a cold blue-black like the densest ice, with white highlights; Her skin, on the other hand, had faded to a white so pure it resembled newly fallen snow, with her lips, the tips of her fingers, and - presumably - other delicate parts of her body taking on a slight blue tinge. A elaborate kimono of white, silver and blue covered her body, it being a 'birthday gift' from her other parent and the only garment she had that could survive the intense cold Ami was uncontrollably radiating. In a little time, she'd be able to limit that if she desired, but for now, she was stuck freezing things to breaking.
Rei summed up the reactions of the others first, letting out a low whistle as she said, "Looking good, Ames. You don't seem surprised to see us like this, though. Not that you ever do seem surprised much, but, I'd think at least Usagi would get some comments."
Ami bowed her head and replied, "I'm sorry, Rei. I have known this day would come since I first gained the Mercury computer. It's scanner is very accurate. And..I'm glad. I want to know..who my other Mother is. I want to travel to the Makai, and learn about the things that the fools in this world's sciences insist can't exist. And I'm tired of pretending that I'm always going to be the nail that doesn't stick up. So, Usachan, Rei, Mina..I'm glad that you have awakened to your powers and that your stirring has awakened me to mine. I don't want to be left out of my friends life - I owe you guys too much, to let you go."
Mina grinned. "That was easier than I thought it would be...I just hope we're all half as reasonable as our girl genius.."
