Okay, that was most of the time. However, the point was still there. The fact was that Shinji's life was crappy, and any happiness he could find was something he held onto closely and cherished. Of course, happiness was not something that came by very often, so Shinji just stuck to being satisfied when his mundane day-to-day life wasn't completely ruined by an Angel attack.
So his surprise at seeing his guardian making out with NERV's head scientist in the doorway was quite understandable. Fumbling with the button, Shinji opened the door after a few errant tries, his cheeks beet-red.
“Um.... H-hi ladies,” Shinji squeaked.
Misato and Ritsuko broke their kiss and looked over at Shinji, their hair and clothes looking severely disheveled, as though they'd had a little fun in the car.
“Hey, Shinji!” Misato chirped, untangling herself from the embrace she shared with Ritsuko. “We didn't interrupt anything, did we?”
“N-no!” Shinji stammered. “I-in fact, I was gonna head out, um, somewhere! See ya!” With that, an embarrassed Shinji ran past the two women and out the door, not caring that his shoes weren't tied yet.
Misato and Ritsuko looked at one another in confusion.
“What's with him?” Ritsuko asked her grape-haired lover.
“No clue,” Misato replied before taking Ritsuko's hand and leading her to the bedroom.
The neighbors wouldn't get any peace and quiet the whole day.
Shinji, meanwhile, ran at top speed, not really caring what direction he went to. It really didn't matter at this point, did it?
After his blood pressure came down to a point where he could form a cohesive thought, he calmed down and brushed himself off.
“I... Ritsuko and Misato... I had no idea...” Shinji gulped and bit his lower lip, looking around to see where he was.
“Well this looks like something that can occupy me for a few hours,” Shinji said to no one in particular. With that, he went into...
