There were a lot of girls born after the Second Stage Virus was released in various forms by various activists. Then came the stage called the Great Uprising in which massive lynch mobs formed and, without due process or search warrants, proceeded to rip apart any environmental activist group linked to those viruses.
Each of the various New Breeds faced some racism and some celebrity. The catgirls could not help but act catty. The dolphingirls were the smallest number and the worst off - needing to be constantly moisturizing their skin. Special arrangements had to be made for these as they were truly handicapped of all these New Breeds.
The best off were the elves perhaps. Though there was one group less widely known but the subject of intense interest among those who did know.
The Espers.
Call them what you will but some of those exposed to multiple strains looked and tested perfectly human but they had something odd about them. A little extra touch. Sometimes it was "a little voice" of intuition warning them of certain situations. Sometimes it was being able to blend into your surroundings so much that other people failed to notice you. Sometimes it was more.
In this brave new world there was Hikaru Gosunkugi - the Chameleon.
Where other kids had been born with catlike features, Hikaru had been the spitting image of his parents - relatively normal.
Up until his parents started finding him in places that no normal baby could have ended up in.
Able to stick to walls, blend into the background, and with a tongue longer than that of Picolette Chardin III, Hikaru Gosunkugi quickly learned to conceal his abilities and try to blend in. He never quite managed it.
In reality this was just Mihoshi going overboard with a Wish. Sure enough, in this world, Ranma Saotome having a harem of catgirls wouldn't raise more than the occasional eyebrow.
A guy named Keitaro Urashima was Immortal. A girl named Mutsumi Otohime was Reincarnating (she died easily enough, it was just that she kept coming back). Keitaro's pet catgirl Naru didn't seem to have any particular powers but was fairly strong. Others could be found easily enough. They lived relatively normal lives.
Then there was the vector. Viruses could cross species borders after all.
Nodoka smiled and brought the subject up. "What do you think about Minako Aino?"
Ami immediately answered. "She's a good friend."
Makoto nodded. "Yes, she's quite friendly."
Morrigan added to that. "She's friendly. A blithering idiot at times, but a fairly nice idiot."
Setsuna checked her watch. "Hmmmm. So this is that talk."
"What's this about, Saotome-sama?" Hotaru asked.
"I've asked Minako-chan about being Ranma's official fiancee," said Nodoka as she seemed to consier a sugar bowl on the table.
There was dead silence among the catgirls.
"Ranma doesn't know about this yet, does he?" Nabikitty asked as she munched on a fish cracker.
"No," admitted Nodoka.
"I see," said Kitty Honey. "Well in that case..."
