Nuclear Fusion: Techsmith Cats [Episode 28842]

by Thrythlind

Rally Vincent checked her supplies. They had plenty of food at the moment. She was even well-stocked on her tech ammo for once. Ten shots for her scattergun, and twenty for the hand gun. It wasn't often she was in Boulder after all, it would have been stupid to leave the city state without stocking up.

Her other tools were in good supply as well. Her sword and knife were sharp and clean, and the net didn't have any holes. The bolo ropes were strong, and her armor was holding well. She was good and armed for the hunt.

Rally's ears twitched as she stood up and stretched before taking a few steps around the camp, recalling everything she'd been told about the target.

Rally's tail uncurled and swished behind her as she walked.

She was a "bastet." At least that is what they called themselves. Most lived in close-knit clans that held small scattered pieces of territory in many of the almost inaccessible portions of the land.

Rally hadn't been that lucky as could be evidenced in the way she occasionally rubbed at her neck when she was distracted or thinking hard. She was feeling for the collar that hadn't been there since her adoptive father had rescued her from the dark realm of Oregon.

Her father, the original Rally Vincent, had been a Boulderan and had taught her all she knew. But as she grew older she hadn't enjoyed Boulder's rather patronizing attitude toward the "class B mutant sub-species number 7" as they called her people. Nor did she fit in with her people, who tended to be paranoid of anyone not from their community (even other bastet).

As for the other scattered communities, the attitudes ranged from shrugging acceptance to burning hatred to worship to food supply.

She felt most comfortable on the road, hunting, as she was doing now.

"You're going to wear a hole in the ground, Rally," her partner said. The other young woman stretched and came out to join her.

She was a very petite, if lovely, individual with an exotic shade of green skin and yellow hair. If it weren't for the coloring and the slight point of her ears many would have mistaken her for a young girl just entering adulthood. At least until she started walking and talking, when the incredible sensuality would become apparent.

"It's not that time of the year again already, is it?" she asked. "There aren't any buildings or cold water around her for you to hide in."

Rally growled and turned to look at the smaller woman. Like Rally, she was an outcast from all sides, though she certainly seemed less concerned about it. A "goblin" woman raised in a Boulder brothel as an exotic choice.

"May, I am not going into heat," Rally snapped. "I'm just thinking about this bounty."

"What's the big deal about this one?" May asked. "Who's offering the reward?"

"Weren't you paying attention? It was..."

((AN: goblins are said to have an affinity for fire and explosions...^_^...I couldn't resist...))
