"Except for us, the Desert Rangers. Nomadic fighters trying to help those in need, and earn money along the way. We are the ones the survivors turn to in case they are being attacked by bandits or monsters. We are humanity's last-"

The speaker winced as a loud snore broke through his speech. The green haired man in the white suit threw a fist at his black haired, black clothed partner in the passenger seat of the jeep. "TRAIN!! I was having a monolouge, you idiot!"

Train Heartnet blinked as he slowly woke up, then looked at the fuming man who was glaring at him with his one eye. "Eh? What was that, Sven?" Behind him, Eve, the shape-changing girl, shook her head as she continued reading her book on psychology.

Sven Vollfield looked back over the wheel. "Never mind," he muttered.

"Oh come on, Sven!" the ex-assasin known as Black Cat said, stretching. "You just havta relax once in a while!" Sven said nothing. A few moments passed. "Can I drive?"

Eve looked up from her book. "The last time you drove, you managed to hit a giant boulder." Train sweatdropped.

"Er... quirk of fate?"

"A boulder in a plain. There were no other rocks or even trees for miles around!" the girl that was infused with nonmachines pointed out. Train chuckled nervously as he scratched his collarbone, which tatooed on it was a black "XIII".

Sven looked at a point in the horizon. "Hey, look..."
