And Now for something completely Different: A flash from the past [Episode 29070]

by Disruptor

A pair of blue eyes opened up and looked at the ceiling. The young man who they belonged to sighed heavily and got out of his bed. As he approached a metal door, the door split diagnoly and allowed access to outside the room. The young man slowly paced outside, his red hair with and oval white streak above his forehead was disarrayed.

He heard a male voice adressing him. "Couldn't sleep either, eh kid?"

Turning, the young man stared at his companion. He was older and had his black hair in a short pony-tail.

"Even after all theese years, I still can't believe she's gone. Today would have been her fifteenth birthday."

The older man sighed and shook his head. "Look kid. We all miss her, but there is nothing we could have done. She gave her life to save us and your father."

"I know," the red head replied, as a giant lavender and blue fish swam through the air to him. Stroking the flying fish's side, he continued, "It's just that it's so unfair that she died whe she was so young."

Holding up a map, the older man said, "Look, here's something to get your mind off of your....sister?"

The man's voice trailed off in confusion. "Ya know, after all this time......"

The red-head replied, "Yes, she is my sister. Despite her unusual birth, Dad has always considered her his daughter and I, my sister."

Giving a slightly amused snort, the younger male asked, "So what's that? Another treasure hunt? You know, I've never been interested in piles of gold or gems."

" It is a map to a temple that holds answers to valuable secrets. Besides, it's something to do. You can't mope around all your life."

"I guess not. How long will it be before we get there?"

"We should be entering that solar system in a couple of days." ------------------------------- Ash, Misty, and Brock were a couple hours outside Goldenrod City. Deciding to take a break from their journey, the trio prepared for lunch. The group released their Pokémon to relax and have fun in a nearby river. Brock had quickly prepaared a fire and was busy cooking over it.

Looking at one of Misty's Pokémon, Ash asked, "You know Misty, I still can't understand why your Goldeen hasn't evolved yet. It's one of your oldest Pokémon."

Misty shook her head, "Goldeen reminds me of something, but I'm not sure what. So, I never really bothered to evolve her."

"Huh?"

"Nevermind, Ash," Misty said in a hurry. "It's nothing."

"If you say so," Ash replied uncertainly.

Misty mentally berated herself. *Great. I almost let slip, I'm adopted and have no memory of my life before I was found about five years ago.*

Looking up at the sky, she sighed wistfully. *I have the feeling that I was involved in something important and that I had close friends and relatives. I have no idea where I came from or even what that metal thing was.*

She closed her eyes and replayed her earliest memory. ------------------------------ A young girl about nine or ten staggered out of a metal cylinder. Her orange hair was done up into two pony-tails. She was wearing a pink shirt, a green skirt, and tennis-shoes. The girl looked back and saw that the cylider had very complex looking panels inside of it and that the entire object was smoking slighty and giving off heat.

The girl quickly spun around and ran away from the device. She was glad she did, as a few moments later the device exploded erradicating all traces of its existance from the world. -------------------------- Misty sighed once more has her mind returned to the present. *The only thing that might have a clue as to who I am or where I came from is long gone. I should just get on with my life, but I want to know who I was.*

She felt the edge of a plate being tapped against her arm.

"Misty? It's time to eat," Ash said. "Are you all right?"

"I'm fine," Misty replied. "Do you think you'll be able to get a badge from the Goldenrod Gym leader?"

Ash said in a confident voice. "We should. My Pokémon and I are a team."

Misty hid a smile and took her plate. "Maybe. But don't forget, only Pikachu is of a very high level."

"We'll do just fine," Ash countered. "With all the times Team Rocket has attacked us, my Pokémon are getting fighting experience."

"It doesn't take much skill to beat those three," Misty replied.

Brock shook his head and muttered, "There they go again." ----------------------------------------------------- As a spaceship, looking like an old sailing ship, entered a solar system with a blue star and one planet, it was halted by a black field of energy.

Inside the ship, the red haired youth rushed up to the bridge. "What's going on?"

An old man dressed like a wizard replied. "It seems we're caught in an early warning defense grip. How interesting."

The black haired man rolled his eyes and sarcastically said, "That's just great. So any ideas on how to get out?"

"Give me a moment."

After a few minutes, the red haired man shook his head and leaned up against a viewing port. He sighed heavily as he remembered his sister. His head snapped up as the field surrounding the ship crackeled with lightning. He turned just as the main viewscreen came on.

An old bald man wearing a hood grey robe stared at the passengers of the ship. He examined each one carefully. His eyes narrowed when they fell upon the black haired man. Shaking his head, he addressed the group.

"We don't allow visitors to out planet."

The red-head shrugged. "That's fine, we'll just leave."

The old man held up a hand. "However in light of what you and your friends have done, we will give you something valuable."

"That's not necessary."

"Even if it is the location of your still living sister?"

All the people stared in shock at the man on the viewscreen.

"The field that surrounds your ship reads what is in your mind and hearts. The missing member of your group weighs heavily upon all of you. We asked our shrine on what happened"

After a quick exchange of looks, the crew of the starship nodded.

"Uploading information now."

The black haired man said, "Let's go get her."

The grey robe asked, "What of your treasure hunt?"

Snorting, the man replied, "This is more important than gold. I'm more into the hunt for treasure, than actually finding it. After the war, I paid off all my debts and have a nice tidy profit in the bank. Besides, I like living like this. That high society stuff is not for me."

The old man shook his head before the viewscreen went blank. After a second the field went down and the starship changed course for another solar system and another world.

"So are you going to head back here?" the red head asked, as he was busy with the ship's communicator.

"Why? We already got a treasure from that place. They took all the fun out of finding anything."

The wizard added, "Plus, you don't want to see your ship destroyed."

The black haired captain shrugged He smiled as he piolted his ship and put the engines to maximum. He blinked away a tear of happiness.

*Well flower-face, it seems you did survive. I hope you're well.* ------------------------- As the trio of Pokémon trainers approached the Goldenrod Gym, Misty felt an odd tingle pass through her body. She shrugged and followed he two companions inside. She idly rubbed the forward spike on her Togepi's head.

Looking at statues decorating the sides of the door, she said, "Looks like this Gym specializes in Normal Pokémon."

"Fine by me," Ash said.

As the group entered, Misty kept staring back out the door and up into the sky. *Something's comming.*

A sudden shout distracted her.

"What do you mean the Gym Leader isn't here?" Ash yelled.

A young boy replied, "I'm sorry, but she's visiting her grandmother. If you want, you can stay here until she gets back."

Ash groaned. "How long will it be before she returns?"

"She should be back in four or five days."

Ash sighed and nodded. "Fine, we'll wait. It's not like we have anything better to do."

The group was led to individual rooms. Misty entered hers and put Togepi on the provided bed. She groaned as she heard the distinctive sound of a Pokéball opening.

"Psy."

Putting a hand to her head, she gazed at the waterfow intently. Instead of yelling or recalling, she just concentrated.

*If only I could talk to it.*

She was so busy concentrating, she didn't notice that a green aura had sprung up around her. She was startled when she heard Psyduck.

"How....are....you....doing....that?" Psyduck slowly asked.

"Huh? Doing what?" Misty replied, shocked that she could understand Psyduck.

She then noticed that she was glowing green. The aura quickly faded, as Misty wondered more about herself.

*How? I could understand Psyduck, but why?* ----------------------------------- In Saffron City, in Kanto, Sabrina clutched her head in pain. She saw that all her students and her father were also acting the same way. Looking around at the pain filled faces, she shuddered.

"What was that?" one of her students asked.

Sabrina replied, "That was the feel of a very strong psychic using his or her powers for the first time. That person is in Goldenrod."

Another student objected. "That's not possible. That's in Johto on the other side of the island. There is no psychic that powerful."

"Apparently, this one is," Sabrina said. "I'll be boarding the bullet train to Goldenrod this evening. Someone that powerful is a danger to themselves and others unless properly trained." ---------------------------------- Even though she was curious about her ability, Misty decided to heed a bizzare tingling feeling in the back of her mind and did not use her power.

*I have the feeling that I'll have the answers to my past soon. I just have to wait. -------------------- Arriving in Goldenrod on the night train, Sabrina was feeling fustrated. She could not pick up the presence of the powerful psychic. She sighed and booked a room at a hotel.

*Sooner or later, that person will use his or her powers and I'll be ready.* ---------------------------------- As the days passed waiting for Whitney, the leader of Goldenrod's Gym, to return, Misty kept quiet about what she discovered she could do. She ran outside as she heard Ash's voice.

"Hey, give back Pikachu," Ash yelled.

"Forget it," said a man with a very gravelly voice. "We're keeping it and prove that we're better than Jesse and James."

"Oh great," Misty said, as she rolled her eyes. "Butch and Cassidy. Poliwhirl, Staryu go."

Misty tossed the balls containing those two water creatures.

"Poliwhirl, Double Slap attack. Staryu, Swift."

The two Pokémon attacked the two Team Rocket members and sent them sprawling. Misty saw that Ash had recovered Pikachu and was working on setting the mouse free.

Cassidy yelled, "You think that's going to stop us?! Drowzee, go!"

Misty bit her lower lip in worry as she saw the Psychic Pokémon. She recalled the last time she had seen this Drowzee.

"Drowzee, knock that brat out. Use Hypnosis."

"Drowzee.Drowzee.Drowzee."

Misty felt herself slowly succumb to the Pokémon's power. She concentrated very hard to stay awake. With a sudden flash of light, a green aura arose around her. Misty snapped to full alertness as she heard the Drowzee scream.

"What happened?" Cassidy asked in shock, as she stared at the unconscious creature.

Buth replied, "I don't know, but the boss will pay us handsomely for bringing in such a powerful Psychic."

Cassidy nodded and released three more Pokémon, while Butch did the same. They were a Primeape, a Raticate, a Beedrill, a Nidorino, a Fearow, and a Machoke.

Ash yelled, "Misty, run!"

Misty quickly recalled her Pokémon and took off through Goldenrod's streets. ------------------ Staring from a hotel room, Sabrina was in shock. *Misty of Cerulean? She's not a psychic. Or, is she?*

Grabbing her Pokémon, the psychic gym leader put aside her questions and rushed to save a person from being kidnapped. -------------------- Up above the planet, a starship had arrived at the Pokémon world.

"Is this it?" the red haired man asked.

"Yeah, kid it is. Now for the hard part. How do we find one person on an entire planet?"

The red-haired man said, "Like this. Ring of Light. Magic Might."

A blue energy emenated from an aincent ring the guy was wearing. The light took over the controls and guided the ship to Goldenrod city.

"Right. I forgot. Magic."

As the ship descended, the flying fish kept butting its head against the wall. Seeing this, the wizard made a comment.

"I think she's in danger. As soon as we get low enough, we should let him go find her."

"Understood." ------------------------- Misty was panting for breath. Everytime she found a place to hide, the Fearow or Beedrill would spot her from their ariel position.

*I can't keep running, but I don't want to be captured.*

She noted that she had somehow made it to the top of a building and had no place left to run.

Cassidy stepped out from the stairwell and smiled evily.

"It's over. You'll like working for Team Rocket, when our scientists are done with you."

"I'd rather die, than be a brainwashed slave," Misty spat.

"So what are you going to do?" the female Team Rocket member asked.

"This," Misty said and jumped off the building.

She closed her eyes and regretted not telling Ash. As she braced herself for impact, she felt something brush past her face. She opened her eyes, as she felt that she was not falling any more, but was actually being carried by something that could fly. She saw that it was not Team Rocket's Beedrill or Fearow, but rather a giant, flying, off-color.......Goldeen? Blinking her eyes, she confirmed that she was riding on a flying fish. Noticing the saddle on its back, she properly rode the fish.

A familiar, yet strange name came to Misty's lips. "Broc?" ----------------------------- Cassidy looked down and saw that Misty was now being carried by some sort of new Pokémon. She ground her teeth in fustration and was about to order her Beedrill to go after them.

"I don't know who you are," a deep voice said. "But, I'm not going to let you bother her."

Butch and Cassidy turned and saw a black haired man, wearing an armless vest. The man was much taller than either of them and was very muscular. He was cracking his knuckles as he stared at them.

Butch asked, "Who are you?"

"Ya know, trying to sound tough like that only makes you sound stupid. But as for my name, it is Herc. I told the kid to leave this to me, since he's to chilvarous to hit a woman, even if she was trying to kidnap his sister. I'm not. By the way, I stunned your creatures, so they wouldn't bother me as I teach you two a lesson."

Butch and Cassidy gulped as they saw Herc approach. It was very obvious on what his intentions were. ----------------------------------- Misty directed the flying fish to meet back up with Ash, even though it wanted to head back into the sky for some reason. As Misty dismounted, she felt that she should know this creature. Ash and Brock came running up to her.

"Misty, are you all right?" Ash asked. "What's that?"

"I'm fine. This creature saved me. I think its name is Broc; I'm not sure."

"Weird. A fish with the same name as Brock," Ash said as he pointed his Pokédex at Broc.

Dexter chimed, "No data on file."

Ash blinked, "It's not a Pokémon?"

Misty shook her head, when she saw a trio of people heading her way. One was a red-haired young man with a circular white streak in his hair, another was an old man dressed in wizard robes, and a walking suit of armor that stood no taller than Psyduck. As she stared at them, scenes of her past came back to her. The sudden onrush of feelings and memories caused her to faint.

"Misty!" Brock and Ash said.

"Flora!" the strangers said.

Ash quickly turned to the strangers and demanded. "Who are you?"

The young man said, "My name is Jayce. This is Gillean. And that's Oom. Flora is my sister."

"Who's Flora?" Ash asked.

"I believed you called her Misty," Jayce replied.

Ash stared. "Your Misty's brother? But how?"
