What happened to be missing from this was Shinji. While he had every right to get up if he wanted, it would have been nice to be able to wake up laying against his wonderful body. In fact, her dreams had been of that, and a whole lot more. Still, she wasn't too concerned about it since he'd been an earlier riser anyway (especially to her). It was just the noise that was getting to her at the moment.
"Loud, whatever it is, isn't it?"
"Huh?" went the NERV major.
Across the bed from her, Ritsuko's face grew into a smile, even though her eyes stayed closed. "The noise."
"You've been listening to it?"
"Only for about a half a minute before you."
"Do you have any idea of what it is?"
The faux blonde's eyes opened as she shrugged. "Not really."
"I guess we'll have to check it out then."
"I think you're right."
Both women stretched to work the kinks out of their muscles, and then got up to pad their way over to look for the source of the noises that woke them. A search of the bedrooms gave up nothing, but it was in the kitchen area where they hit pay dirt.
"It looks like Shinji-kun has found himself a pet kitty," Ritsuko drawled.
"Aww... they look so cute!"
"It can't be comfortable that way though."
"It's the cold that gets you first..."
"And you know this, how?"
The violet haired woman put a ahnd behind her head and chuckled nervously. "Just something that happened a long time ago."
"Riiight."
"It's nothing really..."
"If you say so."
"Ummm... yeah."
"Well then, I do believe that we should move them to some place more comfortable, don't you?"
"Yeah. I've got Shinji."
"Why do you get Shinji?"
"Because I'm stronger..."
"Feh. You just want to cuddle his body."
"Heh. It's just you know..."
"Well, I do think that we'll have to do it together."
"Oh, okay..."
"It'll be better this way."
"Where will we put them?"
"Hmmm... his room should do."
The pair of them worked to get both into the room and settled nice and comfortably. Shinji lay flat on his pillow, while the newly feline Asuka lay cuddled against his body. While he looked to be completely relaxed, she had a happy litle smile plastered onto her face.
Misato was just placing a blanket over them, when Ritsuko came into the room carrying a book. "What's that?"
"I'm not quite sure," the scientist responded, "but I assume it is Shinji's, so I figured that I would bring it into here for him."
"I see. Do you want to get some coffee?"
Her friend chuckled as she put the book down. "Sure, but I'm making it."
"Why? I can make it."
"'Make it' badly, you mean."
"Hey! At least it's better than your sludge."
"What? This coming from a woman who always manages to burn it."
"Well see about that," retorted Misato, and the two of them left the room to go to the kitchen.
And while they went to go settle the coffee debate,:
