Soun Tendo smiled. At last the dream that kept him going since the loss of his wife would be realized "Yes, the son of an old friend of mine. His name is Ranma Saotome. If one of you married him, the Tendo legacy would be secure"
"Is he cute ?" Nabiki's love life could be compared to a barren desert. Maybe this was her chance !
"Hey, don't we have a say in who we marry !?" Akane couldn't believe it. Didn't her father know how bad BOYS were ?
"That's right, father. We don't even know this Ranma..." Kasumi fretted a little. As the eldest, it was more than probable she would be the one to do it. She wasn't ready for marriage !
Soun chuckled "That's easily fixed. My good friend Genma sent us these invitations to the ball given for his sixteenth birthday"
"A ball ?"

Soun stared, jaw agape and eyes boggling.
Kasumi stared in her serene and dignified way.
Nabiki stared and drooled.
Akane stared and wondered what mess their father had pulled them into.
Before them stood Castle Ranguard in all its magnificence, spelljammers and dragons flying in the sky. The streets were bustling with activity and people of many races prepared the festivities. The Tendo sisters wondered how they could have stumbled upon this Lodoss-like place by going through that portal-thingy.
The captain of their escort motioned for them to follow him "This way, Sir Tendo, miladies. Lord Genma is waiting for you in the palace. He has arranged for your daughters to be prepared for his highness prince Ranma's coming of age ball"
Soun wordlessly obeyed, too stunned by his surroundings and the weirdness of their situation.
Nabiki perked up. A prince !? And obviously loaded to boot ! She thanked inwardly her father and all the deities she knew. It was her ticket to fame and fortune ! "What are we waiting for ? Let's go !"
Kasumi blushed. It was like in her romance novels ! Now this prince Ranma would sweep her off her feet, ravish her in a night of passion and the two of them would live happily ever after "Oh my ! You're right, Nabiki. We must not keep my prince, er... Ranma-sama waiting !"
Akane snorted. All those aristocrats were perverts. Look at Tatewaki Kuno and his sister for example. Well, if this Ranma looked the wrong way at her or her sisters, then... Pow ! To da moon ! Er... Moons, whatever.
