Ranma Saturn-Jurai: Kitten Dreams [Episode 30242]

by Greyman

Although there was this nagging sense of loss, Ranma was pretty content with the way things were going.  He was a little puzzled, though, by the way he seemed to come up with new moves overnight.  And there was the way he mastered those moves, almost like he was remembering forgotten techniques.

Genma was not so pleased by the new turn in Ranma's training, because they were not moves he'd taught.  He was certain that his son was holding out on him but for the life of him could not figure out where the boy was hiding the secret scrolls he had to be studdying.  He'd searched the boys bedrolls and stuff while he was at school and...

"That's it," Genma slapped his head in sudden realisation.

"Whassup, Pop?" Ranma asked from across the camp fire.  He'd been practicing the latest move he'd 'invented'.

"Ahem.  Your training has reached a new level, so it's time for a new challenge.  Tomorrow we'll head for a secret training ground in Deepest China."

"Huh, but what about ... school?"  Ranma asked.  He'd 'developed' a new speed dining technique he was dying to try durring the breadfights.

Genma hurumphed, his suspicions confirmed.  It was good that the boy was pushing himself to new levels.  It was not so good that he was doing it without of his father guidance.  It was way too early for the fledgling to be flexing his wings.  "Never mind that, boy.  Training in China is far more important."

"If you say so, Pop," Ranma shrugged.  It was a pitty, he reflected, as any day now he was sure that Ryoga boy was going to get the nerve to issue a proper challenge.

"I do," Genma said with a firm nod.  "Turn in now boy, we're going to get up early in the morning."

"Awe," Ranma whined as he had nearly gotten the move down.  But he shrugged and headed to his bedroll.  "Alright, Pop."

After a while he felt something press lightly on his chest and tap his chin.  He prised open an eye to squint at the grey fuzz ball, then widdened both eyes as realisation sank in.

There was a cat on his chest.  On his chest there was a cat.  A cat was there on his chest.

Then the second realisation occured to him.  He was not running around in a panic screaming "getitoffame".  He was surprisingly calm about it.  In fact he thought that, "you're kind of cute."

"Thank you," the kitten blushed.  "You're not bad yourself."

"Okay," Ranma nodded thoughtfully.  "I'm having one of those kind of ludicrous dreams again."

"You mean 'lucid'," the kitten corrected, "and no, you're not."

"Okay, a cat is telling me I'm not dreaming.  Riiiight."

"No, I'm serious," the kitten said.  "Listen, it is very important that you don't go to China.  If you go to China terrible things will happen."

"Uh, huh.  What sort of terrible things?"

"Uhm," the kitten screwed up her muzzle in thought.  "Dunno.  I forgot."

"Right," Ranma sighed.  "Thanks for the warning, figment, but I'm going back to sleep now."

"My names Dianna, not Figment," the kitten protested.  "And ... hey, don't drift off on me!  This is important!"
